They absolutely do not need Severson. I also don't think they'll pay Kampf that much, he's a good player but offers so little offence that you just can't pay him the much. 1.75 for 2-3 years is max I would do.

I have a hard time imagining that the Leafs will offer Bunting more than that. But I also have a hard time seeing Bunting taking that deal, especially since his top-6 position is not a lock anymore with Jarnkrok settling in and Knies coming. At the beginning of the year I would have thought that extending Kampf was a great idea, but if they can sign O'Reilly then I think they can find a cheaper fill-in on the fourth line. Keeping Samsonov is essential. A 3-4 year deal is fine. I'd prefer a 3-year deal.

One of the things I haven't heard much about is what UFAs might be a good fit for the Leafs next year. The season isn't over, so it's understandable. But I'm really curious to see which UFAs get linked with the Leafs as we get closer to July. I'd be happy with Severson.

21 guys with no cap space is a bad idea

Most of those free agents will get more money and/or term. Tho I do realized Toronto fans all think guys will take discounts to play in Toronto 🙄

Most of them will get more? Maybe O'Reilly or Bunting, but who else? I doubt Kampf, ZAR, Acciari, or Schenn will get more anywhere else.

Bunting and Sevo will likely get more. I’ve read recently that Bunting has already said he isn’t going to take a discount to stay. Severson got pushed down the lineup but is still a very good righty which is in demand. ROR is actually one I could see taking the discount if he likes it in Toronto and they manage to make it out of the first round. Other offers are fair. Shouldn’t have said “most” plz forgive me lol
