Getting Gudas and Severson to sign with Buffalo for well below market value is anything but simple

It’s far more likely that Buffalo can only get one of those two defenseman. I would choose Severson if you can get one or the other, but he could ask for $7.5 million a year and get it. Usually free agent spending like that ends up biting the team who does it in the ass.

i very highly doubt he gets that much $/yr and if he does ill pass and let some
other team make that mistake

Severson is going to command more than what makes sense to pay him. This isnt the Sabres MO anyways. Their moves will mostly be on the margins.

Sabres have like most cap space in league...just curious what team u think will pay him whatever $ amt you are thinking then?

How often have we had the cap space and been turned down? Everyone that needs an RHD will be making an offer. Thats like half the league lol

Its also buffalo. you cant get around that. its not tax free like SEA, TB, FLA, and its not a big market like TOR, NYR and MTL. Reality is they have to accept that as an obstacle. Thats why the Sabres are never involved with free agents that generate a ton of interest. Because Adams and co. know that the price will end up being something that makes it not worth while.

Don't believe me? Ask the guys who cover the Sabres. Chad D, Harrington, Lysowski etc. Theyll all tell you a variation of the same thing. They wont be players in free agency
