Couturier is a heck of a player, but that injury Hx is too much to deal with, as well as the fact that he has 7 years left after this, OEL only has 4

Too much insecurity with this deal. If Couturier can come back healthy, this is absolutely terrible for PHI. If he can't, then he spends a lot of time on LTIR and Philly would just prefer that. This offer would just never be on the table.

I love the idea with Couturier’s shutdown abilities. But 7yrs remaining after back surgery scares me. Granted, I have not seen him play in a long time. Curious how his skating is.
Interesting proposal though.

Heck no!!! Why would Vancouver trade OEL when he has 4yrs remaining for a similar bad contract for Couturier; which is longer terms remaining. Overall, I also think Vancouver is actually happy with their current roster at least at the forward side of the puck. While they will look to upgrade on defense they are a bit locked with Myers & OEL so they would like to trade these contracts away; they clearly don`t want bad contracts back.

Myers has been linked to Ottawa & Pittsburgh in the past season but not sure of the interest now. Myers also has a buy-out proof contract due to his 5M bonus and only 1M in actually salary so very unlikely to be bought out.

The big question will be "Will Couturier play on this contract?" or will he be the biggest payment without skating that the league will have ever seen?

Sean Couturier has already had 2 serious back injuries, And there's no freaking way that OEL waives for Philly.

As a fan of both teams, I think this is a lot worse for PHI than it is VAN. Injury aside, Couturier is a much better player.

Ultimately this is shut down by NMCs tho.

This trade is horribly one sided for the Flyers. First of all, Coots is a better player than OEL and when healthy, is better in almost every facet of the game. Second, even he does play, we basically got fleeced since OEL ain't getting any better and Coots is still just 30. Third, if Coots can't come back, then we can put him on LTIR and that's that.
