Out of the Box Thinking

Created by: pensfan21
Team: 2023-24 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 17, 2023
Published: Apr. 17, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We should structure our roster and adapt our play to be like Boston. They absolutely lock the neutral zone down, play very responsibly, and cycle the puck nonstop. That's how you have to play with an older core. Get young players around them and we'd have a team that could make some noise. If this requires getting a new coach then do it. Can't be playing run and gun with New Jersey and the younger teams.

Knight is still just 21, and goalies tend to take longer to develop. I don't think Florida has any interest in giving up a fairly clear goalie of the future.

Carter wouldn't agree to come to Philly when they were having a contender season in 19-20, can't see any way he agrees to go there now

Pens are stuck with alot of their contracts. Rust wont be traded unless its for another bad contract.

Knight is not going anywhere. maybe Bob if you want :P.

Yea I don't think this is very smart of the penguins. I like the Varlamov signing, does he sign for that, probably, and he is a solid option. I think looking at the penguins though the biggest thing I see the need for is a total overhaul of their bottom 6, and goaltending. If they were smart, they would trade for Carter Hart.

I just see a lot of giving up futures for dumping, and tbh since the penguins got probably the worst system of all 32 teams, I would say that's just stupid.
