Only thing I would say is I don’t think they should put a guy like severson under contract when their about to go through rebuild

I don't think this is going to be as big a rebuild as people think. We've been technically rebuilding the last 3 years. We have a pretty good group of prospects coming up, with hopefully another one to add in this draft.

The thinking on Severson is that if we start to compete next year and can break through to the playoffs in 1-2 years, he can be a very important piece to that. We need guys who play in a system well, not only to help the d corps, but to also show some of the young kids coming up how to play the right way. He is so calm with the puck, that I would hate to not try for him just because it may be a year away. That contract would also take him through his entire prime and wouldn't be a harbinger on the books when the cap rises in 24-25 and 25-26.

You ain't the only one! Although, he did look like a completely new guy in the second half. I'm looking forward to seeing how it can carry it over to next year.

Eh, i don't know about definitely. Look at Dallas's left side - playing Provy with a d partner like Heiskanen would be a home run. Look how well Provy was with Matt Niskanen. Dallas is also not a huge market compared, to a Philly or Chicago or Toronto, and it would certainly suit his lifestyle down in big D.

Ottawa has proven they will take changes at the deadline and adding Deangelo to maybe take some of the offensive zone time that Chabot plays, or even QB a PP2 unit, would be a boon to their output.

Makes sense to me.

This shouldn't be a need for Ottawa... unless multiple injuries

Chabot, Chychrun, Sanderson, Brannstrom, Kleven and 6-7 forwards who need PP time... already very hard to split to keep everybody happy

lmao so you saw the Sens defence lineup of Chabot, Sanderson, Chychrun, and Brannstrom, and figured "the issue with this is not enough offensive firepower. clearly they need a massive defensive liabiltiy who's bad on the power play, and they should pay a premium to get him. but don't forget the best part, he's a massive locker room cancer!"
