Description
Not sure what kind of comments this will receive, but felt like having fun, so I'm throwing it outhere.

Added a few signatures, that should only happen a year after, just so that players would appear on the long-term outlook tab. This includes players like Lane Hutson.

In this scenario, Habs would take Will Smith at #5 and Michael Hrabal at #37.

Alright, enjoy, and don't be too harsh ! This is suppose to be all for fun ! :)

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
  2. 2024 4th round pick (WPG)
Additional Details:
Offersheet compensation for Dubois' bracket would be a 1st, a 2nd and a 3rd, setting the trade value on this one. WPG gets a mid-1st in a strong draft, two good young players in Kapanen (could be replaced by Luke Tuch shoud WPG prefer him) and Engstrom (both young players valued here as 2nd and 3rd).

WPG also acquires a good veteran middle-six center in Dvorak, under a decent contract for two more seasons, to either replace Dubois in the line-up or easily flippable at the deadline for more young assets and/or picks, at the price of a 2024 4th round pick.
WPG
  1. Dvorak, Christian
  2. Engström, Adam [Reserve List]
  3. Kapanen, Oliver [Reserve List]
  4. 2023 1st round pick (FLA)
Additional Details:
Montreal gets Dubois a year earlier, while opening some cap space to reach a long term deal with Dubois by clearing Dvorak off the books.
2.
MTL
  1. 2024 2nd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
ARI gets Primeau, giving them more flexibility to move Vemelka should they decide to go that route, or as competition to Prosvetov to replace Ingram as backup. They also get a youngish puck-moving LHD (who can also play RHD) in Norlinder to join the group of young RHD already in the system.
ARI
  1. Norlinder, Mattias
  2. Primeau, Cayden
Additional Details:
With Allen and Montembeault still under contract, MTL trades Primeau to ARI, avoiding to lose him for nothing through waivers, while getting their own 2nd round pick back, opening the possibility of an offersheet to Dubois after the 2023 NHL Draft.
3.
MTL
  1. Bouchard, Evan [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
This is purely based on things I've read online about the Oilers possibly moving on from Bouchard if a bridge deal couldn't be reached. To be honest, I don't know if that's true or not, as I'm not familiar enough with the team's current financial structure and overall depth to judge...so don't be to harsh on me for this one.

(I'd like to get some feedback from Oilers fans on the situation though, to provide more clarity).
EDM
  1. 2024 1st round pick (MTL)
  2. 2024 3rd round pick (MTL)
Additional Details:
With Dubois being acquired via trade instead of an offersheet, Habs sumbits Bouchard a 5-year deal at $6.25m per, or acquire him via conventionnal trade for similar value (compensation for that bracket would be Montreal's 2024 1st and 2024 3rd).
4.
MTL
  1. 2025 5th round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
I've seen some STL ACGM suggesting the Blues might have an interest in bringing Edmundson back recently, so I went with STL...but it could be any other team.
STL
  1. Edmundson, Joel ($1,000,000 retained)
5.
MTL
  1. Hart, Carter
Additional Details:
Kind of a odd one, as I have no clue what Carter Hart's value is right now, but I'm just throwing it outhere.

I like Tuch and Kovacevic's fit for the Flyers. Allen would give PHI a decent gap starter for the short term (who could also be flipped at the deadline). There's a TON of conditions on that CGY, including some scenarios that could make it a 2024 1st.

That being said, I kinda expect to be turned down on this one by PHI fans. That's okay...but if any of you could provide more clarity on Hart's value for me, I'd appreciate it. :)
PHI
  1. Allen, Jake
  2. Kovacevic, Johnathan
  3. Tuch, Luke [Reserve List]
  4. 2025 1st round pick (CGY)

Twenty-something teams beat that Bouchard offer, if not all of them.

I don't believe the Habs will wait, I also don't believe they will OS him and neither Chevy or HuGo will try to screw the other. A trade will likely happen and it will be a trade that both sides find acceptable but likely one where Jets fans think they should have gotten more and Habs fans will think they should have paid less.

When you say "beat", do you mean beat the offersheet numbers, or conventionnal trade value ? If it's the later, why would they need to beat ? Wouldn't they just offersheet Bouchard themselves, to pay the exact same price ? I understand that approaching a player with an offersheet doesn't necessarly mean he would sign it (which could also be true for the Habs)...but like I said, this is purely based on Bouchard insisting on reaching a long-term deal, and the Oilers only wanting to bridge. If that base isn't true, then there's probably no deal to be had, period.

I meant the trade offer above. But now that you mention it, conceivably both. Someone might need to go trade route if they know the Oilers are able to match, but still want to see what they could get for him from the crowd banging on their door.

Flyers pass, not enough for Carter. Jake Allen is a bum, how come people think he holds value?

That doesn't make sense, PLD has said he wants to play for Montreal so if he does get traded he'll just play for that team for a year and then go to the Habs in UFA

I was saying I think a trade to the Habs will happen, not to any other team.

Honestly, Allen is a better goaltender than what his stats suggest. That being said, he's clearly not the main piece in this deal. He's just there to serve as a gap goaltender while PHI figure out what they want to do at that position, after moving Hart. The value is in Tuch, Kovacevic and the 1st (and the assets that could be gained by flipping Allen if they chose to do so).
