The Ehlers trade needs less quantity and more quality.

100% agreed. Original trade for him was 7 & 39. I don't see DeBrincat's value being 18, 43, Kubalik and Buium after a worse year on a better team and a $9m+ qualifying offer needed.

Like the player, not at that price.

No team is giving Ottawa more than what they paid to get Cat from Chicago. LOL

I've seen this trade countless times from Wings fans, and you're drastically underestimating the difference between 7th and 17-20th overall, even in this stronger draft year. all the red wings fans who are convinced that they'll get a 26 year old multi-time 40 goal scorer who pushed 30 goals and 40 assists in a down year for a box of scraps are delusional

And you're delusional thinking you'll get more for Cat than what you paid Chicago. To quote a Sens poster on here..."try again."

I was thinking about this same possibility earlier so I'll ask, assuming that Ottawa gets the Islander's first from Detroit and some other B asset and includes them both, what else from Ottawa would Winnipeg want for Ehlers? Pinto and Greig would almost definitely be non-starters for the Sens

not sure if you've got the ability to see that I am indeed not the one who made this ACGM. https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4137599 https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4137468 https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4137187 https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/4136556 it doesn't take much to find a whole lot of Detroit folks proposing this exact trade. and you still somehow think that a pick in the late teens is "more" than 7th overall, which sure is an interesting hill to die on

I'd have to imagine then that Ehlers would be a non-starter. Unless the Jets go a strictly picks route.

yeah I’m just thinking in a “Jets full tear-down” world, which seems unlikely, but still
