<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ReelBigFan</b></div><div>I guess it could be a cap dump, but I assume Quick would rather retire. And if it is a cap dump then there’s a good amount of value missing honestly. Kaliyev is definitely promising but also unproven, and if the kings make the playoffs again the pick is already mid-late which I think definitely isn’t enough for a top pair D of that age and contract…

Maybe that’s just me, but if that is a cap dump I think there’s another decent piece coming back

If it’s not a cap dump, Philly is already loaded with young goalies trying to find a way to push Hart out… Fed looked fantastic overseas. Very poise and agile… if that game is brought over here I think Hart will be expendable, but this would hurt the chances of even giving him a shot…</div></div>

Idk, Quick and the 3rd dont really move the needle for me. I dont think Quick is worth anything (LA probably wants the $5.8m more than Quick considering Cal's extension kicks in next season). 3rds are low hit rate. Philly cant use Quick like you said, so maybe they flip him with retention. Considering the usual goalie market, he's probably still not worth much. With or without those pieces, I think Philly is getting the better deal.

Provorov is very good but I'm impressed with Kaliyevs production given how little ice time he had (and I assume next to no PP time). Long term, I'd say 1st + Kaliyev &gt; Provorov.

If LA is underwhelmed with the Byfield/Turcotte/Vilardi crew and decides to push all in with Kopitar/Doughty/Kempe/Denault/Arvidsson, they have to address the defense and I think Philly accepts Kaliyev+1st (probably protected) for Provorov all day. Blake has never traded a 1st round pick though so not sure he'd even offer that.

Thread: Improved D
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Datsyukian</b></div><div>Copp will be re-signing in New York and Provorov is a UFA in 3 years....why give up those assets for someone that will be a UFA before this team is truly competitive?

Unless they plan on signing him to a big extension right after the trade, this doesn't make sense.</div></div>

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PredsWingsFan</b></div><div>Cool with Schmidt, but options for Winnipeg are limited when it comes to moving a CAP like that. I wouldn't offer more than a 4th or a 4th &amp; 7th..

I think Provorov takes a little bit of sweetening but possible. Might have to add a decent prospect. but like people have mentioned, might not be worth it if you dont think you can keep him when his UFA comes up. If you think you can keep him or the value of him for 3 years is greater than what you give up... great.. but i still think you need a little more here.

I like Hinostroza and Copp. I think your overpaying both though. You pay both those guys that much and your setting yourself to pay Larkin, Bert, etc. Copp has been explosive since going to New York.. does he keep that fire or is that just from being traded? I dont see any team really offering over $5M. Hinostroza is your $1.5-2M depth forward. if he is lucky he gets Erne money.
Personally I would just re-sign Gagner who had more points, is a personality on the team and wont take $3M to sign.</div></div>

Yeah in my mind Provorov should be good for 7+ years so you resign him as your veteran on D. He’s in the same age range as Larkin/Bert/Vrana so I think it’d work. I don’t think the Wings can compete within Larkins window with all homegrown D.

I think Copp gets more than $5m, $7m maybe too much, I’d split the difference at 6x$6m and be good with it. Hinostroza is just a guy, I’d be fine with Gagner resigning instead.
