Trying Things

Initial Creation Date: Apr. 28, 2023
Published: Apr. 29, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I dont see and wants the habs going at PLD right now, but i know jets fans you will not like the deal, im not basing on the playoffs just its not a good idea to give any of ours 1rst for him when we could get him for free

I could see the Habs mooving Eddmunson, Armia and Hoffman to create cap space and adding young players to the core

But except a huge overpay they will not trade Anderson

With the 1rst round picks :

- 5th Will Smith
- 14th Axel Sandin-Pellika ( Or Reinbacher if he's still there)
- 17th Nate Danielson (Or Gabe Perrault if he's still there)

Trades
1.
MTL
  1. Dubois, Pierre-Luc [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 5th round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
I dont want Dubois, but if they make that deal i won't be mad that much, he's not a fit rn, especially if we somehow win Bedard or Fantilli
WPG
  1. Dvorak, Christian
  2. Kidney, Riley
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (MTL)
  4. 2024 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
I know it sucks compare to what he can brings but the Jets have no levrage at all, and getting a good 2nd (like a 2022 late first) annother second, a roster player (Dvo) and a good prospect in Kidney is not ideal, but you're not getting either of 2023 firsts
2.
MTL
  1. 2024 7th round pick (DET)
DET
  1. Wideman, Chris
Additional Details:
Anywhere
3.
MTL
  1. Addison, Calen [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 7th round pick (MIN)
  3. 2024 5th round pick (BUF)
Additional Details:
Getting something for a player who's not a future member of the team

Also giving a chance at Addison see what he can do
MIN
  1. Hoffman, Mike ($2,225,000 retained)
Additional Details:
Idk if it's a good fit in minnesota, but i could see a team buying him retained for cheap draft picks and a player who's the odd man on his team
4.
MTL
Only real cap dump because of jam in depth and he's too expensive for what he brings
    ARI
    1. Armia, Joel
    2. 2023 4th round pick (VGK)
    3. 2023 7th round pick (MIN)
    Additional Details:
    free drafts picks lmao
    5.
    MTL
    1. Granlund, Mikael
    2. 2023 1st round pick (PIT)
    Additional Details:
Getting a 1rst with a cap dump for a dman who's probably not on the plans and a prospect who will probably not having a chance in the habs is really good
    PIT
    1. Edmundson, Joel ($1,500,000 retained)
    2. Norlinder, Mattias
    Additional Details:
Pens get an Experimented D-man for 2M instead of 3.5M and they get an project in Norlinder who's stuck in mtl but may be usefull in a short term for Pittsburg

But for that Dumping of Granlund's contract you need to trade at least a 1rst, probably habs will want a bit more but just a 1rst is good enough
    6.
    MTL
    1. Hart, Carter
    Additional Details:
Idk what you think Flyers fans about that
    PHI
    1. Allen, Jake
    2. 2023 4th round pick (PIT)
    3. 2024 1st round pick (MTL)
    4. 2024 7th round pick (EDM)
    Additional Details:
    1rst top 5 Protected

I don't think a market for a Goaltender should be high, but the habs need a replacement for Price and Hart could very be the guy, it's expensive but at least it's not a 2023 pick

I'm not sure of the value of Addison, is it the issue? I honestly thinks the wild will need a bit of offensive help at low cost and Hoff can bring that up

yeah I think his value would be around a second and a third. no interest in hoffman. we have our own players we need to sign with barely any cap space.

Granlund has a very manageable buyout that Pitt would take before moving their 1st this year to dump him, so you can probably forget about your dreams of Pellika/Reinbacher, and I would not count on that Florida pick being so high before the end of their playoff run. They were expected to get swept by Boston and they have dragged it to game 7.

The premise that "we should not trade a 1st for him because we can get him for free in 1 year" is false IMO.

He is getting traded this offseason and he will sign with the team he is traded to

Penguins pass pretty easy here. The buyout is very cheap and the penguins have no need for more below average & injury prone defenseman. We already have enough of those lol

Not exactly how I'd look at it.
If you aren't willing to give up a 1st round pick (Fla, Cgy, or Mtl 2024 protected), then don't bother making an offer. That means you don't want him enough to pay a reasonable price.
If that's the case, you also aren't going to want to sign him to the contract he will expect as a UFA in a year.

What if he was traded as a pure rental as a TDL move to a team that has no intension of resigning him?

I doubt very much that he signs for 1 year again... But maybe

that is my hunch too.. dubois will want 9 mil and i think given his history that is too much.. He wont be better than suzuki so why give him so much more money... plus all the pressure that a contract like that would cause a quebec player... Honestly I think his agent is trying to shake up interest in order to drive the price up.. If we win the lottery then we dont need dubois for sure.

That's a garbage offer for Carter Hart, Detroit is linked to him as well. And they'd easily offer Philly better than this.
