Description
Bring Bergy back for 1 mil plus incentives like last year, sign Bertuzzi. Buy out Reily as I'm assuming he has not trade value. Trade Gryz he's a ufa in a year anyways and you won't want to spend $$ to sign him and you need the cap space to sign bertuzzi. Trade Ulmark and hand the keys to Swayman since he's younger and less expensive and bring in a low cost vet to back him up. Young players make up the 4th line either McLaughlin or Beecher centering Lauko and Merkulov or Steen. If you have the cap space you could try brining back Hathaway but I didn't have it. Sign Lorhei and let him play in the big leagues or bring in a 1mil or less vet D.

The only other option would be to keep Ulmark and see if you can trade Hall instead but I love the depth of Hall/Coyle/Frederic as your third line. Gives you a great top 9.

Also on the trades they are just examples of returns, don't really care which team just need to get about 9mil off the books with some combo of Ulmark/Gryz/Hall/ Forbort to make cap work.

Someone might give you a 2nd for Gryz but it won't be the Hawks. And you didn't account for the $4.5m in bonus overage B's will have next season.

There’s 4m+ in overages from bonuses.. this isn’t possible. And if Bergy returns he will impact the team the same way again. Overages the following season.

Agreed on both. I see the value for Gryz, but itt just doesn't fit the Hawks plans.

And you're miles over the cap, Once again the 4.5 mil bonus overage isn't taken into consideration.

Yes they are actually. Krejci is on the scratches at 2m and Bergeron's signs a 1mil deal with incentives that carry over to the following year just like he did this last year so the other 2.5 mil is the overage bonus.

as I mentioned in the comments it's just a place hodler for a trade of Gryz. What team is not really relevant.

Overages are accounted for. Krejci is on there at 2m, and Bergy at 3.5mil is 1mil for 23-24 base plus the 2.5mil from last season. The cap works trust me. Whether you agree with the moves or not is fine, but it's within $10,000 of the cap.

As I mentioned in the description the teams and values for the trades are just place holders, whoever they actually trade with doesn't matter.

nope overages are in there. Krejci is on for 2m and 2.5m of Bergy's 3.5 mil is the bonus overage. They can put another bonus in for the remainder of his salary for 24-25 just like they did this year.

Hey all...I realized how I put the overages in was confusing so I revised it and left 4.5mil open in cap space so it's easier to see. I guess my question is , as opposed to doing a bunch of crazy trades and rebuilds is this a better option or something similar to this for another playoff caliber year?
