For the Pens we love that first more than our first born child and Oloffson's not taking it from us

Why in the world would Buffalo make that trade? I liked Borgen as a prospect with the Sabres, but his value isn't all that high, and Eberle is not needed.

I wouldn't bet on Olofsson 75% retained will land a top 20 pick, let alone a lotto, and I really like Eberle and Borgen on Seattle and wouldn't move them. Another problem is that Olofsson is on a cheaper contract than Eberle, and Borgen isn't carrying the rest of the trade on his own. Doesn't make sense for Buffalo, Buffalo declines, Seattle doesn't dish Eberle and Borgen, Seattle declines and the pens trade doesn't happen period. Calgary might bite on 75% retained Olofsson at that price, especially if you throw in a next year 2nd or this year 3rd+6th, but even that might be a stretch.

The Kraken are already a playoff team in year 2 with a young and competitive roster. You are taking essentially 4 steps backward for maybe 1 step forward in like 3-4 years. It’s terrible asset management.

fair points. tbh I forgot Where Pitts pick was. I think olo @ 75% wouldd get a late 1st round or 2nd round to a cap strapped team

I dont see how it is really any steps back. I essentially see the above as remaining the same but also adding picks. How is the above a regression?

Olofsson at 50% with Buffalo's 2023 2nd should return a late first round pick from a team which wanted to add scoring.
Olofsson ranked 25 among ALL NHL foward scoring 1.6 goals/60, and his 28 goals ranked 55th!
Wth a total of 96 top line forwards his goal production is first line equivalency.

Buffalo decided to keep Jokiharju over Borgan, why would they decide now to indicate they made an error as Henri is doing just fine.
Casey MIttelstadt had just 4 fewer points than Jordan, is 8 years younger, has half the cap and will be an RFA while Jordan will be a UFA next year, it would not be Buffalo adding to the trade.

He might score 50 goals on Crosby or Malkins Wing. He has one of the best wrist shots I have ever seen. With the right C He could explode. Damn he had 42pts in 54 games on Eichel's wing before getting hurt. A 1st is not out of the ? for a guy that can score like Olofsson. Especially with retention.

He hasn't even had 30 in a season.... don't get me wrong, I think he's a solid player, but I'm not willing to move a 1st for a year of Olofsson lol
