Recoup assets for the new core

Created by: Pasta88_
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: May 5, 2023
Published: May 5, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This in my opinion could be potential moves to recoup some picks well also having your new core in tact (McAvoy, Swayman, Pasta, Bertuzzi, Zacha). Give plenty of of good prospects some playing time, well having a good veteran (Foligno) in the room. Some of the values might not be perfect, but I could see these being players that the team listens on and some plausible destinations.

All of these teams tell BOS they have to wait until after UFA to make these moves. You’ll sign Bert and go over the cap, then get less return for the cap movements for cap space.

Canes wait it out, and only give you 2 x 3rd. They would be fine with BOS sending Hall elsewhere

I don't think the blues want another small defensemen. We already have Krug. Also we are trying to get younger players like 26 and younger and Grz doesn't fit in that age range

I could see that. I was honesty close to putting a second and a third. But went with wishful thinking. Haha

A 3yr deal makes Swayman a UFA at the earliest point possible. Its either a 1-2 year deal or a max deal for Swayman.

Ahh, good catch. I didn’t know that.

I like Gryz and all, but there's no room for him at the inn, thanks.

Love all those trades tbh (especially that LAK trade), some of them might be with wrong teams, but that lineup for next year would be really exciting

Gotta give sway a max deal or bridge 1-2 years so he doesnt become UFA after those 3 years, but well done

Fair enough, maybe the team isn’t correct. But I feel the value is fair in the end.

possibly, but I’d question that if they make a deep run this year. Might be an intriguing option.

Trading most of these guys work but don't sign Bertuzzi to this contract that won't age well. It also makes the team better. Only reason to keep Bertuzzi is if he accepts a smaller contract (2-4 years at reasonable AAV), plays with Pastrnak and you flip him in a few years to get more assets. This contract brings him to 35yo and Bruins won't contend in most of those years.

I would question Marchand actually playing for any other team. Maybe he really wants another shot, maybe he doesn't want to move at all.
