Panarin Move Reworked

Created by: HOCKEYBOY448
Team: 2023-24 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2023
Published: May 6, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Obviously not realistic given Panarin’s NMC. But there’s value given up on both sides. I personally think a move like this makes the Rangers better suited for the playoffs.

Actually a good thought. Vegas might be a team Panarin would waive to. Might be more of an issue with McNab's M NTC. He's been a Vegas resident since his minor league days. Vegas's cap's might be an issue with the trade

I tried making the other side of it as well from Vegas’ POV. If they bought out or traded Martinez it works.

Like the fact that you appreciated the "other teams" cap in the trade. Certainly cap wise and value on the ice, it's a fair to both teams....which often doesn't happen on CF, or isn't even possible in the real the NHL. Like the originality of the trade...in this case NMC Panarin to Vegas......Often we see in order to dump cap, a NMC or M NTC is traded a poor team with cap...such as Coyotes, Ducks or Habs.
Really this trade checked on the logic boxes of an NHL trade.

If this is what it takes to get a Panarin deal done, it should never happen in a million years. It should not take three of your team’s top assets to facilitate a deal for your leading scorer of the past four seasons who had a bad playoff series. Panarin cannot be considered this negative of an asset, and if he is then a trade can’t happen. I could live with Smith, Roy, and pick for Panarin retained

I don’t see Laf or Jones ever developing on the Rangers to a suitable point. This is a solid deal that helps us now and for the next couple of years. It eliminates any threat of an offersheet to KAM or Laf since we move him. We still have Othmann, Cuylle, Sykora and Berard coming up on the left side so our depth isn’t too bad there. With Lindgren and Miller, I’d rather a bigger guy than Jones to play next to Schneider so come playoff time they’re not getting pushed around as easy. That 1st isn’t helping us anytime soon, given the window is the next 2 years while Igor is still cheap. I personally rather Smith and Roy than just Panarin. The move addresses our depth and cap issues, also allowing us to bring in Fast or a similar type of player who’s important come playoff time.

No chance NYR does this. You don't have to pay to get rid of panarin you just need him to waive the NMC.

Not getting a top 6 winger, top 4 d man and a 3rd line guy with upside signed to a great deal without paying. And Panarin isn’t going to get that on his own regardless of NMC. Plus this moves ensure we lockup KAM long term and gives us flexibility to add guys like Fast and Bjugstad. Plus that d core is absolutely amazing.
