Otherside of Panarin Deal

Description
Top line is filthy. Also helps to inject some youth in the lineup. Didn’t stick to the norm of everyone trading Martinez so I bought him out. Either way I don’t mind youth in the lineup. Plus can rotate in Hutton as needed.

From a Vegas or Rangers perspective.

It can’t be that bad from a Vegas perspective. And it allows the Rangers to fix a lot of the depth issues.

Just to add, it allowed the Rangers to resign Miller long term. I can't see the Rangers being able to retain both LAF and Miller if an offer sheet up to 4.3 (second rounder ) is presented and signed.

That was another thing I had in mind when thinking about both the present and future.

Rangers.

We’re kidding ourselves if we think a big shakeup isn’t needed based on what we just saw in that series. This move makes the Rangers a harder team to play against. Allows them to sign Miller long term. Solidifies the defense - Lindgren-Fox, Miller-Trouba, McNabb-Schneider. Provides flexibility in the lineup and allows us to sign Fast for the 3rd line.

You cannot possibly be serious with this. The Rangers would not give up any one of those pieces for that package, let alone all four.

I’m pretty serious. The team I constructed is better suited for the playoffs than the one that was just bounced. A major shakeup is the only thing to prevent another half decade of being good but not great. And that’s the difference between winning a cup.

I love the idea of Mcnabb/Schneider. Moving panarin is the shake up needed or stack him on line 1 with Zibby/kreider. I don’t think they should move Laf. His future is going to be great

I know, but I can’t see Vegas moving Roy without a decent piece going back. Plus Roy has similar production and a great contract, albeit we lose Laf’s upside.

That’s 23’ 1st is going to be the caliber of Chytil/Kakko too. Could probably remove that for sure

This is bad. I get your veiw point of reshaping the team but panarin probably pulls those 3 with some tension, maybe drop his cap to 9m. What's the point in throwing laf away, I get he hasn't lived up to the 1st overall pick but just wanting scraps back isn't a good idea.

McNabb is a definite top 4 d man. Roy is a solid 3rd liner with upside who just put up the same amount of points as Laf and is signed at $3 mil for 4 years. And Smith is a legit top 6 winger. How are these scraps. Jones is not the defenseman we need. Already have a smaller top pair in Lindgren and Fox. I value size and physicality on the 3rd pair. Even if we dropped the 1st it’s still a solid deal. Moving Panarin is getting worse in terms of top end talent but vastly improving our depth in a way not possible without a move like this.
