Habs might do that deal, and the Rangers might have to for cap reasons.
Too much cap going to the Wild for them to accept, never mind Goodrow's M NTC

Wild need to shed salary so I'm not sure why they trade a productive Hartman signed for an affordable $1.7m in return for a guy like Goodrow on an awful contract and not nearly as good a player.

Laf will probably sell for less than that if he is traded. He is an easy offer sheet target if he makes it there, and a lot of teams will just offer him a 4.5x2 deal.

Good point. This trade is probably the least likely to happen unless the Rangers add some big sweeteners. I think the Wild would like the type of player Goodrow is, while overpaid, he can still be of value to the team. That being said, the cap and term probably make it too difficult to manage. Either way, they could dump Goodrow to an upcoming contender with cap space, and look for an underpaid player.

Even the Konecny trade? I think you guys get great value on that, even if he doesn't resign.

I think I just like the idea of the Rangers getting Hartman, cause he can be a good replacement for Goodrow if they are going to trade him while being more productive. But you are right, I forgot how tough the Wild's cup space is.

It was reported today that Laf or Kakko could be axed because of cap constraints. Considering Dach, the former third overall pick with little success at the NHL level, was traded for the 13th overall pick of a pretty weak draft, and a third-round pick, I don't see how a roster replacement, a mid-first-round pick, a stable defenceman, and a third-round pick isn't enough.

It doesnt look good but neither is the Rangers cap. Ppl need to move in a hard cap world when the Rags cant afford to give raises out of ELCs

You are very correct. There is a massive difference tho between the 1st OA and the 3rd OA. I think the Rags will need to make some tough choices, for sure. I dont particularly want Laf in Mtl. He doesnt look to have the same upside as Dach and plays the less in demand position. Your value is pretty close.

I know you don't see, that is obvious. Laffy or Kakko or anyone could be traded due to cap reasons, but it won't be for this return. Rangers will keep both if that is the offer and move someone else.
