No, there's no reason for the Devils to do that trade either.

The signings are nonsensical. Toews is a waste of cap space and Lemieux is a second, worse, more expensive Lazar. Lazar should be a scratch anyway.

If we trade Bratt, it probably means we were unable to extend him. If he is signing $7 million x 7 years, I think we would extend (and not trade him).

But Hellebuyck would be nice addition if we were adding a goalie.

On value alone a borderline elite, team-controlled winger like Bratt carries more value than a rental goalie, even if that goalie is a world top 5 goalie like Helly.

Devils should not be looking to trade Bratt in a deal like this.

Jets aren't getting a better winger than Bratt back for Helly.
To even get Bratt back in such a scenario would be nothing short of a major coup by Cheveldayoff.

Besides, if the Jets are trading Hellebuyck they'd be more likely doing that for pure futures as I cannot see them being competitive without their star goalie.
He's their best player and he's been for a good while now. You might as well just rebuild if it comes to that.
