Girard is playing at a level way below his cap hit and I don't see him fetching much of anything in a trade at this point in time, like a late 2nd at best.

I don't think Kane gets 6m on his next deal.
Barbashev looks a little over paid as well.
Bunting probably gets 1m more with term than what you suggested.

Pedestrian possession numbers in the regular season, outscored by 9 goals (55GF - 64GA).
Possession numbers turned bad in the series against the Kraken and got outscored at a terrible rate.
What good is all his points when the process by which he creates them is more costly than the goals he generates?
At this point in time Girard is not a 5m defenseman and has nowhere near high enough value to return a prospect like Greig if he were made available.

Going by this season's overall performance Girard would fail to be among the top 4D on the following teams: Kraken, Flames, Vegas, Kings, Oilers, Jets, Predators, Wild, Stars, Caps, Flyers, Canes, Devils, Leafs, Bolts, Bruins, Senators and the Panthers. That's 18 teams by my count.

I should say that I quite like Girard and I think that he is playing way below his normal levels.
But that doesn't mean he has very much trade value at this point in time.

Ottawa just has no need for Girard. He’d be behind Chabot, Sanderson, and Chychrun at LD and wouldn’t fit as a partner for any of them.
