Canes decline.

The bottom half of that D is going to be a problem.

Interesting concept though.

Defense will struggle at times but there is no other choice. Can always split up Mcavoy and Lindolm to balance out pairings. Schenn there for insurance.

I think the bs have a good shot of sending Coyle to pens for Rutta and a pick. That would "help" with the d situation. This would also free up the need to sign Schenn

I like the idea, its hard to say Devils would accept, considering theyre taking back more cap, but they get a #1 Goalie and Hall reunion w Hischier, think theyd rather stick w Timo but very interesting concept

Not really any need to trade Coyle to CAR, just gotta cut back on those UFA signings

Trading Coyle does not help Boston at all, it makes the team worse. Coyle provides far more value than Schenn and Rutta.

I don't think NJD bites unless Timo is asking for the moon for contract.

And...if we added a guy like Ullmark, we'd probably be sending Vanecek in the deal.

Or would otherwise be asking for Swayman+Lysell or something.

Trading coyle frees up anywhere between 2-5 million in cap. That plus other moves give the bs much needed cap help

There are much better ways to of freeing up cap space than moving the most underrated player on the team, and the 2nd best 2 way FW on the team if Bergy is done, and much needed center.

Coyle can't cut it as a 2c. We saw that in the 2021-2022 season. He was out matched constantly. The reason coyle was so good this year was because he was where he belongs, on the third line. His cap hit is not worth where he belongs on the roster.

And if you go out and get a 40-50 pt guy who wins faceoffs and is a great PK guy to replace him, you pay just as much. He’s not the guy to move.

The Ducks don't have room for both Forbort and Reilly on the left side. We'll gladly take one of them, but after that it has to be guys on the right side.

Coyle is 100% someone to move because his contract at the position is bad. Plus there are teams that need a 3c. I would much rather try out P-Bruins at 3c and 4c then spend 5.25 million there. Trade for Turcotte from LA or Pinto from Ottawa for your 2c, have Zacha be center 1 this year and then sign a free agent center in the 24 offseason. You trade coyle now when his value is high from the last playoff series

You are not getting Pinto and Turcotte doesn’t look like a center at this point, probably going to be a wing. On top of that he can’t stay healthy.

You move Coyle, Bergy and DK retire, then what? You spend the $ you saved on Coyle to go get someone worse or you go with some combo of Freddy/Merkulov/Poitras/Steen as middle 6 centers with Zacha as #1? Umm….no.

If Bergy comes back you can move Coyle…it’s still not a smart move.

Would allow the Devils to trade Vanecek in a separate move.
