NYR add.

Sounds strange, but the fact that NYR have seen enough of Laf to consider moving him/worried about what to pay him says alot.

I kind of thought NYR might have to add, maybe a little. I think for Laf it's more of a "roadblock" situation at the LW position. I don't think he's going to be quite as elite as they thought, but I think he could be better in a slightly better environment for him

NYR adds-- SEA has cost certainty with Wright, and he still can grow in leaps & bounds. LAF could be all he's going to be already, which isn't exciting for a former #1 pick.

This trade really doesn’t make sense for Seattle. Wright is their best prospect and has a lot of potential to be their franchise player. Lafreniere has struggled his whole career so far

I don't disagree with what the potential issue is with Laf's production, but I've gotta think that Seattle would be happier knowing that they've got Beniers/Wright/McCann down the middle long term, rather than gambling on a winger who doesn't necessarily fill an area of need for them. Not to mention that there's more flexibility cap-wise and control-wise by sticking with Wright.

I don't necessarily think that Wright IS better than Laf, but they spent a full year working with Wright, and I'd assume they're confident in what they've got, vs. rolling with a wildcard.

I dont even think 2023 NYR 1st and Laf gets Wright..... (in this case, the unknown/potential is better than the "probable" we've seen)

Better bet is to get a lesser player than Laf, who's more affordable while dropping a contract in the same deal

Problem with NYR is that its getting very top heavy, you've got 9 guys making over 4 mil and 8 making less than 1mil, not much in between, (so if a player on a lge minimum or ELC gets better, theres no money to retain, as all the big contracts are signed long term)

I always doubt these things will actually happen, more like a pipe dream from a NYR fan XD. The Rangers are definitely in a weird situation, curious to see what happens!
