Florida doesn't have the cap for Marner (or maybe even the desire). The only way Arizona does the deal is if at TDL they can flip him for more, so they decline too.
That's an poor trade for the Leafs with Canucks. No thanks to seven years of Miller.

Demko is the prize. Miller can be flipped after he tears it up in the playoffs.

No Miller can't just be flipped as you suggest. What team wants to take him on his six years at 8m. Demko the prize? Samsonov and Woll are just as good and cheaper.
I know Murray was injured....but he and Demko had identical stats. Gee, Leafs shouldn't trade 766,000 Woll for 32 year old 5m goalie who ranked in 50s in GAA and Save%

The cap will go up. With Matthews making 15 million and other guys getting raises like Nylander, Miller's contract will not look as outrageous as it does now.

Samsonov and Woll aren’t close to as good as Demko. After he returned from injury he was 5th in 5v5 GSAx, 8th in 5v5 GSAA, 6th in overall GSAx, and 7th in overall GSAA, after being elite last season and very good the year before. He had 15 bad games while injured this season and everybody all of a sudden thought he wasn’t good anymore

And Demko is 27 not 32

Thanks for the correct of his age. It's still a lousy trade for the Leafs. Leafs have 3 NHLers making 4m, an expect to give up a first also, for two players making 13m.

It’s a pretty lousy trade for the Canucks. Giving up by far the two best pieces, their franchise goalie who’s on a steal of a contract and a PPG forward for a late 1st, middle 6 winger, 24 year old goalie with 15 NHL games, and a RHD that gets healthy scratched in the playoffs (although I do like Liljegren and do think he’s good)

You don't seem to an appreciation of the cap. Miller who I think is poor long term contract (but that's subjective)
Let's look at facts. Woll, Liljegren, and Jarnkrok cost 4m.(plus the first rounder in the trade Leafs could add two quality UFA, to make up the 9m difference in 8m Miller and Demko.
Leafs could offer sheet and probably get Swayman at 6.2m for a 1st and 3rd., keep Woll, Lijegren and Jarnkrok , and still have over 4m ,

With the 9M in savings the Canucks get if they made this deal, they’d have to get a replacement goalie and 2C, both of which would more than likely be downgrades on Demko and Miller

I agree Miller’s contract isn’t great long term, but for a contending team it’s more than fine for the next couple years. Demko is a steal at 5M. Liljegren is a great value contract for next year. Jarnkrok doesn’t add much value for the Canucks since we already have too many wingers. And Woll could be good, or could just be an AHLer, although he’s looked solid in his limited NHL time so far

However, the Canucks were asking for a huge overpay for Demko at the deadline (blue chip prospect, a 1st, and a Raty level prospect), and reportedly wanted multiple 1sts and Pickering from Pittsburgh for Miller (which imo is pretty absurd but it’s what their asking price was). We aren’t trying to rebuild, so we aren’t actively trying to move Demko or Miller unless it’s an offer we can’t refuse. And this offer isn’t that
