If Matthews was to be traded before next season, this is type of trade that will do it. High retention and the Leaf get futures. But the Kings would not do the trade without an extension.
Now I think Matthews wants to go to LA. Think the Leafs and Kings could work out a trade "easily", but can LA and Matthews work out a contract in the next six weeks?
Like the thought. Kings might only want to trade one of their young centers. Maybe a Vilardi, Brandt, Durzi (Kings have RHDs) is the trade.
