Who wants to Buy-in for a cup run

Created by: njd2008
Team: 2023-24 New Jersey Devils
Initial Creation Date: May 15, 2023
Published: May 15, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Signed RFA's
Bahl – Started to gain some trust from the coaching staff in the 2nd half of the season. Still needs some development but can be utilized in a 3rd pair role. Re-signs for 2 x 1.2M.
Bastian – Replacement level player but meshes well with guys currently on the team. Big body who brings it every game. Re-signs for 2 x 1.0M.
Boqvist – Still waiting to see him breakout. Emerged this year as a strong forechecker but the offensive potential is yet to show. Gets 2 x 975K on a last chance deal.
Bratt – This is the interesting one. You have Seigenthaler and J Hughes calling him out in their exit interviews. If he wants to stay in jersey and believes in this team he signs this year. 5 years x 6.5M brings him to UFA at 29 years old when the cap should be around $90+M and has a chance to cash out on a big ticket. This maximizes his potential career earnings. Would go up to 7M but nothing above.
Meier – Did everything these playoffs he needed to but had trouble finding the scoresheet. Has all of the intangibles and is just waiting to breakthrough in the red jersey. Nothing really else to say signs for 8 x 8.5M.
McLeod – Mikey really shined in these playoffs and is due for a nice increase. Consistent 3rd/4th liner who is our faceoff specialist. Gets 3 x 1.8M. Would be willing to go to $2.0M but would like to stay below.

Signed UFA’s
Haula – Devils fans did a complete 180 on him from mid February to now. Dude showed up in the playoffs, wants to be here, and seems to be a huge presence in the locker room. Look for him to take a team friendly deal and sign 2 x 1.5M
Clifton – 3rd pair Dman who can hold the gap until Nemec is ready
J Staal – Shut down 3C with playoff experience. Lets make it happen.

Trades
Saros for Casey, Sharangovich, Vanecek, 2023 5th, and 2025 Conditional 2nd - Devils get an elite goaltender for a D prospect who had better college seasons than Luke Hughes, an NHL caliber 3rd line player, League AVG goaltender, 5th round pick, and conditional pick.
2024 Flames 4th round pick for Blackwood’s RFA rights – high upside backup goalie for CGY.

Calgary already has 2 goalies with term and Wolf coming through the pipes who was the top ranked goalie prospect in the NHL for the last 2 years.

We'll take Meier if he doesn't resign

I was between him and RoR. Would take either on the same deal.

ROR is way more likely considering what Jordan Staal means to the Carolina Hurricanes in terms of being a shutdown center and a mentor for the younger guys.
