Realistic Scenarios

Description
Trying to create realistic offseason scenario that gets us closer to contention. This version will feature the patient approach - how I think we should move. Rather than an aggressive approach where we make a big splash via trade. Keep all our prospects and draft capital and continue to build while increasing the competitive environment for them to grow and earn spots in. Makes it more crowded, but only in the short term and if someone pushes for a spot, have no problem scratching some older guys or trading the likes of Fabbri, Kubalik etc.

Miles Wood, Max Domi, Pius Suter, JVR and Bert are all guys I think we might take a look at signing as well to fill in some depth, leadership, and toughness positions. However, the guys I have acquired would be my preferred.

In my opinion, Mazur is going to earn a spot at training camp, or at the least, come onto the scene in a similar fashion to what Berrgren did last year.

Not spending any assets but still going out and making the team better in free agency. Harder to play against by a mile. Definitely don't think most of these UFAs cost this much nor that Yzerman would spend right up to the cap - but just to show that we can.

Through the draft we would ideally acquire 1. Best forward available 2. Best RD available (or Willander) 3. Another RD in the 2nd round

Alex Lyon 4 mil AAV? 🤨 Killorn isn't signing here to play on the 4th line. Raymond will be playing on the 1st line with Larkin.

Why is Raymond under Berggren on the depth chart exactly?

Why is Raymond’s spot the big concern. It’s about line combinations. They’re fluid anyway. But you can make the 2nd line the 3rd line and vice versa. Lyon was just a goalie placeholder to be fair

As a Wild fan we will easily pass. Other teams are offering way more. He could fit in the leadership for you but it just isn't enough. Greenway got more than that and Foligno brings leadership, toughness and typically more scoring.

What is the cost if you do trade him?

I think somewhere like a 2nd and 5th. Doesn't have to be same year but I see his value as higher than Greenway's. This is the same value Greenway got. We don't need to trade Foligno and he's coming off his worst year in 3 years so the value is poor if you only look at this year. I think he could get a 2nd and 3rd maybe 2x2nd's if the team loves him and could extend him. Looking at a 3 year average. He will get 41 points, 119 PIM, 18% shooting %, 269 hits and 46 blocks. Brings leadership and has worn the A for 2 years now. He is a perfect playoff type player on the 3rd line

The 3rd is honestly just what I’ve seen others trade for him. I thought it was a bit low having watched him play a bit and is why I added that maybe a bit more would be needed. But I can’t disagree with your assessment, it seems that Foligno should be in high demand and so a 3rd would be too low for a guy Minny doesn’t need to trade but can if they just want to shed a bit of cap. And tbf I haven’t looked at his stats or anything, just noted the toughness and leadership and figured he would be a good add. With those stats he’s definitely worth more
