Yeah that’s not an overpay let alone massive one. TK is going to be a premier target on the market this off-season and the flyers have the ability to retain to make him super cheap. Ur prospects are mid at best which means to out bid everyone else it’s going to take a good chunk of stuff. Most teams with be able to offer an earlier first and better prospects which means this is the only way to get TK and besides who cares about the two years? That might be the extent left of ur window anyway

Leafs have long window, even Matthews and Nylander leave next summer, and Tavares and Marner the summer after. Leafs just exchange those players with other players with the cap. Liljgren is a RHD playing 18 minutes a night. Minten is the Leafs only centre prospect. Leafs need some ELCs (the first rounders to help with the cap in future years. Konecky is traditional a 55 point player. Leafs would infinitely better resigning Bunting, probably cheaper at under 5m, keeping 1.4m Liljgren and the three "prospects."

Every single report I have seen says that Bunting’s number starts at $6M minimum because he’s the premier UFA this off-season. So you would rather re-sign an older, less experienced, more expensive player that was less productive on a better team than TK? That makes sense lol. I mean if you want to seriously contend for a cup TK gives you a better chance to do that and at that point the picks and prospects don’t matter if you want to contend. If you want to keep losing in the 1st or 2nd round then just keep the same team and re-sign the same players lol cause ya know it worked so well the last 5+ years
