Mid to late 1st and an A prospect or an early first and a B prospect. That's the cost imo, but the Rangers will want more and should get more because it is a very risky trade for them. For how much hate he gets, he is still a 40pt 21yo forward who has the 3rd most 5v5 goals on the team since his debut.

You're looking at maybe the Boston 1st and Knies. He's a former 1st overall pick with the talent to still be a world beater. He's shown flashes too, it's not like he's been a ghost. He's putting up 40points a season in a 3rd line role, it's going to be a price no one else wants to pay.

Nothing really of interest in TOR system. In general the price is steeper than teams are willing to pay. And as soon as offersheet nonsense is mentioned not that nyr just buys out Goodrow and than easily matches, unless it is like 8-9 M, but no one does that kind of gamble on Laffy.

I wouldn't count on him going to the Leafs, they don't have a very high 1st round pick so they'll probably have to package Boston's this year along with theirs next year, and add in a B level prospect like Knies. I'd imagine that would garner Drury's interest but even still I think Dubas would like to keep one for a trade deadline acquisition, and the value might not be enough with teams like Montreal that could very well be willing to pay a fortune for Laf.

Rangers and Leafs just aren't compatible partners for a trade like this.

A low-cap top 6 RW is a big need for them, which the Leafs don't have many of. Without a piece like that in a trade it's gonna be hard to get Drury to budge unless a team gives him so much value he can't say no, especially since there's no incentive to trade Laf in the first place, it doesn't make sense for Drury so a team has to make it make sense for him.

as of now, and i know things change the NYR are sitting with 8 forwards signed to next season so they still need 4 more. one will be resigning laf. They have 5 D signed and need to resign Miller, and sitting with 11 mill in space. Buying out goodrow would net you a total of 15.3 mill. So without Goodrow you need 5 forwards and 1 d and a back up goalie resigned. Miller gets 5 mill and laff will get around 4 mill leaves you with 6 mill to resign 5 positions. and an offer sheet of 4-6 mill is only a first and 3rd which is not a bad offer for laff. It will be tight for sure and are open to an offer sheet.

They'll definitely be worried about offer sheets but if it's for 6m or less they can definitely make room, he's a very valuable asset to the Rangers right now. Either way though offer sheets are very rare and there's still incentive to trade for him rather than offer sheet him, since his cap would be lower with a trade.

Then you ain't getting Lafreniere. Lafreniere was a 1st overall pick that has already played in the ECF. He's got more playoff points in his career than Knies has games.

or we can trade marner to carolina for 3 firsts a second and 2 prospects and flip a first and 2nd for laff.

Could do that too, don't think the 32nd overall pick and a 2nd gets you laf though
