Maybe, I think CBJ would accept it.

- Miller fits with Gaudreau's timeline, and hes a huge upgrade on Roslovic.

- Demko fixes their goalie situation immediately, and they get to dump a massive anchor.

- Raty is a strong prospect, middle 6 C potential.

All for the cost of moving down 8 spots, and while Carlsson looks to be a stud, they have a massive prospect pool already and will get an impact forward at 11 still.

If Carlsson was in last years draft he would've easily been the #1OA and he is a true #1C and will probably move into that role in his first season. A 30yr old Miller and Demko don't come close to a player who will be their #1C for at least the next 10 years. Yeah it would be nice to have Petersson and Carlsson as your top 2 centers but Raty hasn't even proved he belongs in the NHL full time and the gap between Carlsson and who is taken with the 11th pick is significant. The value for CBJ isn't there at all.

Gaudreau is a much better player than Miller. Miller’s contract is not good. Maybe he defies the odds and is productive throughout, but other teams are not going to ante up on a contract that odds are will turn into an albatross. The Jackets aren’t shopping Gaudreau…

I don't think Gaudreau's contract is negative value yet., but may be in the last 2 years of his contract.
My biggest issue with Miller is that he has been playing more wing than Center since he went to Vancouver.
He is a good player, but is probably better suited to stay on the wing and the Jackets don't really need any wings.
I think we would rather take our chances on Carlsson or Johnson panning out as a 1C.

Gaudreau ppg the past 3 seasons is 1.09 and Miller's is 1.06. They're the same age. Miller has played C for over a year now. If you don't think Gaudreau is negative value at 1.75 mil more per year then Miller is definitely not negative value playing the premier position and bringing far more physicality and presence to the game.

First of all, that statement is not true. Miller has been playing center quite a lot since coming to Vancouver.

Pettersson or not interested in trading 3rd OA.

Carlsson is a 60 point player at best with 2 way intrigue. Not close to Petey levels. The mystery box isn't that valuable.

He's been a bad centre. More half truths for the King

Ok I will concede to you if you can answer me why other teams have not offered anything for him besides the Pens at the deadline? Every team knows Van is over the salary cap and has to cut cost. No team is just going to bail them out. Miller Carrie’s 7 yrs of term for a player that is going to be 30. No team will take that contract unless A) they are completely desperate or B) Van eats 30% of the remaining contract. That is the truth. You can try rationalizing the numbers all you want but the age and uncertainty of regression is too risky to teams. They might have to hold on to him for two more yrs for the cap to go up enough to create some market for him.
