Not really a fan of pairing Chayka and Tulksy. I think it leans too heavy on analytics. One of them paired with someone else with more of a hockey background though I would be all for. I believe the best move is to balance analytics with just general knowledge of drafting/what intangibles we need.

I feel like Chayka specifically has both. Likely they both do as just generally smart guys. It’s not like they arnt going to have a team of veteran pro scouts. That said I can understand the concern

Fair. For me Dubas is top, which I still think is a possibility. After that I think Chayka or Botterill as POHO and then Darche as GM would be my pick.

I feel like Dubas isn't even a candidate. He said it was Toronto or nothing, and hasn't been part of the first or second round of the interview process.

well which is it? If you want to move Petry and add a good fit for top-4 RD, its gunna cost.

Pretty simple. Sounds to me like the Pens don't want to move #14 and the Hawks don't want Petry.

they can probably get a first at next TDL for him, so partly fair, but I feel like the value is ok ish. Yoder is kinda a throw in but could be like a top-9 guy, really high end skater

Pens are open to anything, Hawks may want #14 depending who is available
Not like Chicago doesn't have cap space as a major asset to use to get picks

Think your in the minority of Pens fans who are open to trading #14

doesn't really matter what fans think, the team has not made a statement one way or the other. In general, the public tends to overvalue picks/prospects over roster players. Organizational mandate still appears to be "win now"
for better or worse.

He wasn't a part of the interview process because he unexpectedly was fired yesterday. He decided to come back to Toronto, but Shannahan canned him after he asked for a raise. He said Toronto or no where, but I think he said that with the assumption that he was able to come back to Toronto if he wanted to. Who knows whether that was a negotiating tactic, he changed his mind after getting fired, or if he meant it. Guess we'll find out soon.

I mean I am aware of the situation. He said Toronto or nothing. So looks like nothing. What am I missing. “I don’t want to do that to my family” meaning relocation…
Sounds like he’s not an option, as much as the pundits like the idea.

My point is no one knows for sure. What if he was just saying that as a negotiating tactic to make them think he could walk away? Because it's pretty obvious he wasn't expecting to be fired. What if that motivated him more? I get what you are saying but what they say to the media isn't always 100% fact. Circumstances change. People can change their minds. No one knows if he would take an offer if FSG gave him a good one. Except him. It very well could be true he wants to spend time with family and obviously would commend him for that. All I'm saying is I don't think his comments to the media rule out the possibility entirely.

I don’t buy that. He said Toronto or nowhere. That’s the opposite of a negotiation tactic. Also it clearly implies no where was an option.

I mean anything is possible, but that’s a leap
