Ottawa wouldn’t want Wennberg. Change him for like Gourde, Eberle, Tanev, Burakovsky, Bjorkstrand and they accept

I'm pretty low on Luukkonen tbh, but I think that's too much for him. Definitely not enough for DeBrincat, though.

Hard time seeing they do that. They probably want to keep that core together.

Suppose it comes down to how much you value Sprong. 46 points in 66 games is quite a lot though.

Buffalo has no reason to make that trade. Luukkonen has more value than Driedger by himself. They also just acquired Stillman and have no reason to move him. They really don’t need more draft picks, if anything they are trying to acquire talent so they can win now, and Driedger isn’t it. If you really want Luukkonen Buffalo wants Borgen back, and that wouldn’t be all you’d be sending them.

I agree. I also think Sabres are open to trading Luukkonen. SEA could use a young goalie to tandem with Grubauer, but they need to ship Driedger elsewhere to make it happen.

Luukkonen for Borgen though? Meh. I don't think SEA has interest in that.

Trades have to help both teams or they don’t happen. Seattle has to offer what Buffalo wants. Driedger doesn’t help Buffalo as much as dumping his contract helps Seattle. Buffalo already has Comrie if they move Luukkonen.

That's where the picks come in. They can use those picks to find themselves a Borgen if they so choose.

I would expect that if Adams picks up the call about Luukkonen and wants Borgen in return, he doesn’t back off on that. It’s what we like to call a hockey trade. That is, of course if Buffalo cannot get the defenseman they want in free agency without giving up any assets to do it. Which is what I think they will do first.

I think Luukkonen could develop into a fine NHL GK.
Stillman turned his career around when he came to Buffalo, he became a 6th D-man, a jump from being a 7th.
Buffalo only needed to move a "B" prospect to add him, so adding him to the trade is reasonable.
Evev if Driedger is a complete "DUMP," a second and third should be sufficient.
A second for Luukkonen considering his current body of work is generous.
Leaving future considerations for Stillman.
Buffalo should at least strongly consider this trade, and could accept it without regret.

Sprong isn't worth that much. He can put up points, sure, but he's a sieve defensively, his shooting percentage is inflating his goals total, and he's averaging ten minutes a game. He's a career depth forward who bounces around constantly because he doesn't fit in systems and doesn't play two-way.

Neither Sprong or Wennberg match the caliber that Ottawa should be asking for
