Trading Lindholm without a Center to replace him doesn't really do much for the flames.

Carolina should target Marner over Nylander IMO
Flames don't consider that, horrible offer
Really don't think you can go into next year without heavily considering getting an elite goaltender

canes arent a pay a butt load for 1 year rental type players. toffoli and lindholm are passed the age where the canes consider long term contracts.

ghost sucks. he is the lefty version of TDA. pass on paying a PP specialist 4.5 million for 3 years.

without getting Nylander for a reasonable extension, which there wont be, pass on that trade.

Also Carolina already had Elias Lindholm when they drafted him 5th overall in 2013. Personally Carolina is not a team that really likes to trade for players they once had.

I don't think any team does.

The thought process is this is the last year we have the main core from the past 3 years. Think after the last couple years we go all in this year. The one year contracts for both Lindholm and Toffoli is almost ideal so we aren't tied to them after and we can make our decisions regarding Skjei, Pesce, and Jarvis after this year. I've also really like chatter and ghost as a 3rd pair d but I get that contract in expensive, was more a placeholder on this roster. I would think Nylander is the guy we lock down long term to pair with Aho and Svech. I would be comfortable giving willy 7 years and 8.5-9 mil per, is that too much you think?

Trading Lindholm was one of Waddell's first moves as GM but I know the canes kicked the tires around the Flames to see if he was available at the deadline and his press conference at the end of the season made it seem like he wasn't happy there.

I don't think anyone was happy under Sutter. If Calgary trades Lindholm, they may as well clear house and rebuild. Same goes for Anderson
