Trading necas for Debrincat isn’t of value to us.

It sure would be if we knew what the extension is. I do think the 1st is over the top, as it could easily be a one for one trade.

DeBrincat on a team friendly longer extension > Necas on a unknown long term amount right now.

A 8.5m Cat in his prime…sign me up

Ottawa can’t afford Debrincat. Cat is fine but he doesn’t fix our size problem. And he does most of his scoring off the rush. We don’t really get a lot of rush chances in our offense.

Uhhh... pick is going the wrong way... Necas is younger, has a much more affordable contract, and is signed for an extra year while... here's the kicker, outproduced DeBrincat

Necas doesn’t fix our size problem either. Not sure what the affording of DeBrincat means - are you saying that decreases their leverage and it could be cheaper?

Rush chances aside (I’ll trust your data about this is correct), he can play make and score. I could see a top winger situation of Svech + DeBrincat and Jarvis could be pretty awesome if you could bring in another winger with Size.

Necas scored more than Debrincat did this year and its not overly surprising Debrincat didnt get back to 30 in Ottawa's system. In ottawa, he had to be decently defensively responsible. In chicago, Kane and debrincat cheated the zone constantly. Debrincat would have numbers closer to his numbers this year with us than numbers in chicago. Why trade a guy and a 1st for like the same scoring player?

I agree the 1st might be a bit over the top, my reasoning behind it was that it's gonna be the 30th pick in the draft, which is basically a second rounder, and that since you're getting an extension with him it would be better to have something else than just Necas. The extension I believe would most prob look like 8.25-8.5 million a year for 5-7 years

Cat and Necas are different players, but Cat at least gives us something the Canes don’t have - a player who could score 40+ goals. I think Svech-Aho-DeBrincat could be a dynamic first scoring line.
