Horrible trade; Marner immediately becomes Canes best player and we get prospects & underperforming winger 🤦🏻

I'm not that familiar with Jarvis - is he projected to be a LW1 or LW2 for the Canes?

No one seems to 'value' their players at a fair level - if you don't think this is in the ballpark, I'd like to know (earnestly) what you think Marner can fetch from the Canes?

If it doesn’t include Aho or Slavin, I’d hang up. Marner is better than both but maybe there is a hockey trade there (I doubt it though).
Because Dubas left in rather dramatic fashion, I guess fan of other teams think they can swindle the Leafs out of their superstars . This is still the premier team in the league - richest, most popular - run by legions of professionals. Any trade involving prospects coming back (I don’t care how good they project to be) makes zero sense for Leafs

Jarvis is playing on our top line with Aho, playing in PP1, getting PK time, and recorded 10 points in 15 playoff games this year - at age 21. Regular season points will continue to go up. Why would the Canes trade him - especially considering there are paths to getting an improvement in our Top 6 forward group without sending Jarvis the other way.

I’d be happy to let MitchSr hang out in Toronto for a few more years, it makes for good TV

Jarvis is playing RW on the top line already with Aho and he's only going to continue to improve his point totals (21 years old) as he develops and gets stronger. The Canes were unwilling to trade him in conversations for M. Tkachuk and T. Meier in the past year so in terms of style of play, I don't think Marner moves the needle more for Carolina than either of those two other players. Marner and Necas play similar styles, though Marner is more developed and well rounded while Necas is still trying to develop into his full potential, though he made big strides this season.

So does the trade work if you swap Necas for Jarvis, but keep the other pieces the same?

You’ll have more than a few years, no worries.

Jumping in here, I don't see how trading two top 6 forwards and their second-best d prospect helps with scoring, especially in the playoffs. I love Marner, would love to have him, but I think a deal involving carolina uses more prospects/picks than roster players, especially after the press conferences they just had basically saying to "run it back"

Just make it Necas for Marner straight and let’s call it a deal. You can put $7m + AAV to good use elsewhere
