arizona would almost have to do that trade. rosen is a #14 overall who has had a great first season in the AHL. arizona basically started over their rebuild under doug armstrong and this would give them multiple assets in a deep draft and a prospect trending up who was drafted #14 in his year.

Can't see it, personally. Trading a chance at Michkov or their preference of what's left and dropping down to the leftover/faller tier. I don't think Rosen is enough to make them consider it. Maybe if they love him, but the scouting staff seems to have a size bias.
Rosen is good. Buffalo will get someone good at 13, but AZ has a lot of picks already.
They'll want the guys they want and a sure chance of getting one at 6 and not hoping two of them fall to 12 and 13.
If a team offered up an impressive D prospect in a deal like this, they might consider it, but the chance for Michkov or theIr top-rated guy in the 6-10 crowd is worth more to them, I'd think.

It is a pretty nice package, I can see arizona declining for all of the reasons mentioned. Frankly, I kinda wish the Sabres would start to emphasize size. We have 6 forwards coming- savoie, kulich, ostlund, Rosen, rousek, and weissbach- all are smaller skilled forwards, 4 were recent first round picks. If you watch the Sabres, they can score fine, they can't defend very well (and the pk is an anchor), and they are dead last in hits. I think that makes them a pretty comfortable team to play against, and the forwards that are coming are going to provide more of the same. This is where drafting bpa hurts.

The previous GM in AZ who shall not be named never gave it a thought. Team was routinely pushed around and abused, and what was worse was there was never any push back. He also pretended they were a playoff team and moved a bunch of futures for rentals. I'm not sure if he has ever watched a playoff game before.
They have Keller/Schmaltz (for now) and Maccelli in the top six. Cooley (hopefully) next year will be pushing for a spot in the top six. There's not really room for a Rosen, who to his credit isn't afraid to get his nose dirty. Just my opinion. Maybe they'll draft Benson and make a liar of me haha
