First, Domi is going to want more term than you're giving him. His big thing this offseason is getting some stability. I'd be shocked if he weren't demanding 5+ years on his next contract.
Second, I'm not sure how much better this makes our defense. Lundkvist isn't close to being ready for top-4 minutes, let alone the 25+ minutes a night that Heiskanen plays. Mayfield is an alright 2nd pair option, but you can't really put him on the top pair with Miro, and Hakanpaa obviously shouldn't come anywhere near the top pair.
This feels almost like shuffling the deck chairs on the Titanic. Yeah, moves were made, but how much better does this really make Dallas?
I don't hate the Mayfield signing, but if you're looking to undoubtedly upgrade the defense, don't re-sign Domi and go after someone like Graves IN ADDITION to Mayfield. Another option would be to not sign Domi or Mayfield and go after a big name like Severson to play that top pair with Miro.
