The Rangers won't move their captain with a no movement clause.

What does the no movement clause have to do with anything? And the “captain” talk is so overblown these days. It ain’t like the old days when Captains would stay with one team for 15 years.

It has to do with the fact that you can’t trade a player with a NMC without their permission.

And 15 years? Jesus dude he doesn’t even have 2 years as captain in New York yet lol.

Are you aware Trouba is from Michigan?

Trouba would come home in a heartbeat. Idk if u notice but if he wasn’t wearing a WPJ or NYR hat, it was a Detroit Tigers cap. Rangers might decline but Trouba certainly would not.

Trouba came to New York in the first place to benefit his wife. You’ll have to ask her to move back to Michigan too, not just Jacob.

I read that 4 years ago when he moved from Zimbabwe.

We could go back and forth with this and get nowhere.

It’s only a matter of time before he won’t need any convincing and neither will his wife. He’s not finishing his career in NYR.

Finishing his career in NYR is a whole separate conversation and is one I would probably agree with. But at the absolute EARLIEST, Trouba would get moved in 2024-25, after his NMC becomes a NTC, where he would absolutely allow a trade to the Red Wings. But even that is too soon in my eyes.

Who was the last NHL player to serve only 2 seasons as team captain?

Idk who the last one was but I just counted 5 Rangers captains that served just 2 seasons as Captain for the franchise in its history. And another dozen that served for 3 or 4 years. All of this is meaningless data because there is no predetermined timeframe that is expected of a captain.

Not every team can be like the Red Wings and have career players serve as captains for as long as they play in the NHL. Not bragging - it doesn’t really matter.

Don't care if he finishes his career in NYC, but he isn't going anywhere until his replacement (Schneider) is ready to take over his spot. One, maybe two more seasons, then he is all yours.

id prob just ask for trouba for wallman. I know wings fans will say they "need" walman bc he was great last year but at the end of the day that's what the rangers would likely ask for.

Youd then run:
Bergmann-Seider
edvinsson-trouba
Maata-Chairot

Who’s Bergman? Also Walman is not being dealt after just extending and playing LD1 minutes. He has a great contract as well.

You’re right he had what looks like a career year, and was rewarded by making 3.4 for the next 3 years. So at 27 years old in his prime at his best season with a true number 1 as a partner…. Might as well sell lol
