Uhhh - pretty sure I know what he does on the ice unless it’s a secret. Career best 18 goals / 43 points last year - bottom 6 production. I watch him when he plays the Leafs, nothing special. Off the ice - gimme a break, who really cares. Leafs have lots of standup dudes already - certainly aren’t peddling 1st rounder because you like his charity work (which is commendable)

Laughton is a leader in the room. He can play anywhere in the lineup, and has, which includes C. He kills penalties. He is gritty and never takes a shift off.

Let me educate you - every team has guys like that but not every team is as bad as the flyers. Priduction matters the most in the nhl, and bottom 6 guys - with heart - that produce 18/43 don’t return 1st rounders 😂. Pretty normal procedure for fans of terrible teams to overvalue their players as we near the draft so your opinion is explicable, if not defensible

I understand you want goals and actual production from someone you’re paying a first round pick for, but just as important as that is a team mate who gives good intermission talks and pats you on the back after a shift, those intangibles are special

Domi went for a second, sundquist a 4th and Laughton is kind of in the middle. But they were fa’s and Laughton has term left albeit at a pretty big cap hit 🤨… maybe a high 3rd or low 2nd.

Well always an exception to the rule. Obviously foligno was a flop but mostly due to injury. ROR played 3 C for us and he got a 1st, but if you are equating Laughton with either of them - good luck. Wouldn’t hold your breath that you’ll get a 1st rounder for him though

I think I mentioned that- you must have missed it 🙁. In this case term doesn’t help; committing $3M over term + losing a 1st is way too high a price for bottom 6er. We could sign one of many comparable players as a FA for similar $ without losing a pick. Maybe at TDL, Laughton becomes more valuable but a 1st - not for me
