- The fact that Tatar has another year left, as nice as his cap hit may be, makes him a bad candidate for us to pick up because our first offseason priority is to re-up Petro. Grabbing Tatar just makes it $4.8M harder for us to keep our captain. We're not adding any significant cap hit until he's re-signed.
- Beyond that, we are not trading the 2020 1st and we're not trading Hofer. And yeah, you're probably also underestimating Blais' value a bit. He has offensive upside.
- It's always worth mentioning that Tatar is a) not a player Berube would want for his system/preferred manner of play & b) not a very good playoff performer. His speed and 5v5 skill are very nice, but he's small and doesn't grind. And while he is on a 70-point pace this season (at age 29, mind you), that's not his typical level. This will be his first season over 58 points, and just two years ago he managed only 34.
- Finally, yes, we don't really need a forward. Tarasenko will be back, and we filled our primary need for this Cup defense run by grabbing Scandella today.</div></div>
Thanks man, After how much it cost to get Scandella I didnt see you guys trading anything I mentioned anyways.
