I doubt the leafs would need to give up that much to move murray. There was a rumour floating around that he would go to the island.

Armia was a nice piece probably valued around a late 2nd so a 2nd 4th and 7th for a depth forward in terms of picks.

I valued Armia more as a 3rd but that’s pretty much what I was going for

Yeah that is probably Murray's value

Armia was decent and a good project when moved to MTL
He was probably worth more than a 3rd

What? Am I the only one here noticing :

      A) there's a 50% difference between Masson's (4.1M) and Murray's ($6M) salary dump, how can the price be the same !?!?!

      B) Your comparable is from 2018. There was a pandemic and a frozen salry cap since then. The price to take bad contracts has increased as a result.

      C) Monahan is the best comparable. Same season, same money, same injury uncertainty. And Monahan had potential for remission and be flipped while Murray is dead meat.

Monahan had an over 6 million dollar cap hit, Murray is significantly under due to the retained salary

Thus why I said salary dump and not cap dump. You need to convince MTL to pay $6M of real money (like Monahan) for a ****ty player that won't even play. Cap hit is irrelevant here.

In that case it becomes a lot more similar to the Staal, Zaitsev and Mrazek trades. Both were owed a lot of real money yet only went for 2nds or 1st for a 2nd. Also post pandemic

Are you playing dumb with me? Obviously those 3 are different than Murray because their salary was, once again, way lower and, once again, they could actually play.

Way lower? Zaitsev and Mrazek are owed more money total than Murray has left, it’s just spread over 2 years. Also you’re completely forgetting the Leafs don’t have to move Murray like they did Marleau and Calgary Monahan. Without trading Marleau leafs wouldn’t have been able to sign Kapanen, Johnsson and/or Marner and without trading Monahan Calgary wouldn’t have been able to sign Kadri. The leafs can quite easily ice a full roster with Murray on the books

"TML are happy to keep Murray on the books" is quite a take. 🤣

Keep him then. Molson will be more than happy to play the exact same team and keep his $6M...

They can quite easily bury him in the minors and ice a full 23 man roster that would make the playoffs. It that’s what it comes down to I’d much rather do that than pay a 1st to dump 1 year of his contract

Glad to read it's THAT easy to bury him. Problem solved! Now you can stop wasting your time on making an AGM to dump him somewhere else...
