Boston does not want that contract. Take Sway and 1st out. Might consider. Doubt it though.

Why would Boston want a low upside, Hugh downside player whom throws tempertamtrums when things don't go his way

My thought process on it is that if you're Boston, you're looking at the next 3-4 years for contention. After that the window is probably closing so Miller's contract being bad is no longer that problematic, and the cap will likely go up to make it more minuscule. That being said i get your point on it

His defensive play is spotty but his offence more then makes up for that. This year his defense wasn't good but it also wasn't horrendous

They have to shed 8-10m just sign their RFAs and fill the roster with ELCs/cheap vets. After that any cap comes in an equal amount of cap has to go out.

Most of that 8-10 will come from Reilly, Forbort, Grizz. But then they have to rebuild/reinvest in the bottom half of the D. So that means 1 of Ullmark/Hall/Debrusk/Swayman would have to be moved just to accomplish the cap cleanse. Moving those pieces out while taking 8m of a bad long term contract back makes life difficult.

Impossible, no. Problematic yes. He’s not the guy to dismantle the team for

Spotty is putting it nicely... There was, at one point during the season, that he was a -18... That's horrendous considering his offensive play

That's fair. Out of curiosity, what is the solution for the Bruins? Is there a way for them to solve their centre issues in your view

Short term - convince Bergy to return, long term - probably not.

Get lucky with a pick or prospect. Zacha take another step. Be in good enough cap situation next year to go after Aho in free agency. 🤷🏻‍♂️

But again, ends up -7... despite having 82 points... Means he was scored on at least 89 times this year... That's not good at all

His upside is 99 points is that low now? I mean we had quite a few 100 point player this season but his floor and ceiling are pretty established and pretty good.

Do you know why +/- isn't really used as a metric for defensive prowess anymore? I can explain it to you if you need but let me know.

Not saying he is an exceptional defensive player but you never wanna use +/- and I think your example of -18 and the rebuttal of +11 since is a good example.

Bruins don’t want Miller. I wouldn’t do this for just Hall never mind Sway and a 1st. I prefer Zacha and Coyle as top two centers rather than trading for Miller who is over 30 and on a bad long term contract. Vancouver is stuck with that. Bruins have interest in Pederson though if Van can’t sign him.

I like Garland despite his size. If Vancouver retains about $1 million on his deal, I’d consider that move with Vancouver. He’d fill a hole in the third line. If Bruins can’t keep Bertuzzi or find a winger with size they’d look at teams that might need to sell off a contract on the cheap. This assumes we can move out money from Forbort, Gryz and maybe Hall.

Yup, hope Bergeron returns for 1 more year and Zacha be the 2C.

Next season go after a big name free agent (Lindholm, Aho, etc.) and play Zacha at 2C again.

Then hopefully Poitras can develop into a top6 C and move Zacha to the wing.

I don't think theres a world where the Canucks can't sign Pettersson, and even if they can't there isn't anything the Bruins would have that would get him

Garland is interesting but I highly doubt the Canucks would be looking to retain for multiple years on him

Yeah... You score a goal EV/SH, you get a plus, you get scored on EV/PP, you get a minus. JT miller was on for 7 more goals against than for... Meaning, if he wasn't on the ice AT ALL... Vancouver saves 7 goals

So none of JT Miller's powerplay points count towards it.
