Moving Miller
Bruins don’t want Miller. I wouldn’t do this for just Hall never mind Sway and a 1st. I prefer Zacha and Coyle as top two centers rather than trading for Miller who is over 30 and on a bad long term contract. Vancouver is stuck with that. Bruins have interest in Pederson though if Van can’t sign him.
I like Garland despite his size. If Vancouver retains about $1 million on his deal, I’d consider that move with Vancouver. He’d fill a hole in the third line. If Bruins can’t keep Bertuzzi or find a winger with size they’d look at teams that might need to sell off a contract on the cheap. This assumes we can move out money from Forbort, Gryz and maybe Hall.

Devilish
While I don't think the Bruins would get Mercer or Holtz, maybe ask for Seamus Casey too. It seems Devils fans like but Bs fan scoff at it. Would need adjusting. I wonder if a goalie packaged with a star (Marchand on the high end or Hall/ DeBrusk) will be considered. After this year, I'm having a difficult time feeling good about the Bruins lineup next year.

Based on a pod I listened to
I’d decline the Gryz deal as a B’s fan. I wouldn’t want to take on Rutta. Rather take 3rd round pick from someone else than 2 years of Rutta for a slightly higher pick. Don’t need to help the Pens by taking on salary.
I listened to the pod as well and it made it clear we don’t have any real defense prospects. Need to get a few more picks with our moves. Mark also seems to want keep everyone in Providence lol. He is probably right with our biggest prospects aren’t ready for the NHL roster which dampens our excitement for this year.
Disappointing that we didn’t try to do more with Zboril or Achan down the stretch this year with everything wrapped up in regular season.

Offseason V2
Gryz is not fetching Columbus’ early 2nd rounder. That’s almost a first round pick. A third round or late 2nd from someone is more likely. Bruins getting back their 5th and a future 2-3 rounder more likely ask.
I’m around the same value in the Kings trade comp. The issue is Cal Petersen. Can’t buy him out or trade him really. Kings would be better off getting a Free agent, put Cal in the minors, and buying out Peterson next year.
I wonder if packaging Harrison or Lysell could get us Elias Lindholm. Assuming he’d he resign to be our first line center, I’d consider it. Poitras is more the prospect I’d sit on at this point.

Retool based off comments
I wouldn't want to commit to Frederic for that many years. I think the 3.5 number is high as well. I'd prefer a bridge deal on Frederic. Lysell needs more seasoning and had an off year. He'll have a lot to prove to jump into the top 6. Hall won't fetch a 1st. I'd think a mid-late 2nd and maybe a 4th in a future draft.
Clifton due for a bigger raise than that I'd expect. He'll probably go elsewhere but if he goes for under 2 million I'd probably consider it. Losing both DeBrusk and Hall would cause a big dip in scoring and this lineup doesn't replace it.
Buy out Reilly don't give up 2 draft assets. That's too much. Reilly has been a good soldier and the Bruins should buy him out and let him find a new club at market value.
I would cringe if that 3rd line is what we put onto the ice in October. Yuck.

Bruins Retool- 2015 Part 2
I understand Canes fans saying no for Morrow. Not giving up a first a late first? A first and a different prospect seems reasonable assuming the Canes don't win the cup making them more hungry to add a goalie with an open spot next year. By adding Ullmark you'd weaken a conference rival in the process.
What I'm surprised at is that Ullmark is the likely Vezina winner, 2 years under control, reasonable cap hit and few seem willing to part with a late first round pick (20's-30's)? Contending teams should be willing to go after Ullmark for a player that likely won't fit their winning timeline anyway. Bruins will likely want a prospect that could add to their core even 3rd-4th line, 3rd pair. If the deal is with LA Kings, a player like Jordan Spence would be a starting point for me to fill in for Clifton now or Carlo down the road. I woulda thought a counter would be a first round (28-32) and a lesser prospect. Canes seem happy with Anderson and I'd think a team out of the west if more likely to emerge as suitors but I'd kick the can if I were Carolina's management knowing that Aho has 2 years left on his deal.
I can remember a time when the Bruins got an unprotected first from San Jose in 2016 and a prospect Sean Kuraly (future 4th liner and key contributor) for Martin Jones. The Sharks picked 9th in 2015 so I'm sure the Bruins thought this pick could be a top 15 rather than 30th.
Before the trade for Jones this was his stats: (Nothing to write home about).
G GS W L S GA GAA SV% SO Minutes
LAK 19 18 12 6 -- 0 500 33 1.81 467 .934 4 1,094:40
LAK 15 11 4 5 -- 2 307 29 2.24 278 .906 3 775:22
I think Swayman is on a different level that Jones "was" at the time of the deal. If a team wants Sway the ask is more than the Martin Jones return.
I'm sure the Bruins needing cap room plays a role but there should be competition for Ullmark's services if he actually became available. The Bruins can shed salary in a variety of ways and trading Ullmark is not a necessity so they could happily sit in the crease with him again.

Bruins
I wonder what the favorite destinations and trade comps are for Linus. I'm leaning Vegas and LA if the Bruins are inclined to trade him. While Ottawa could be a fit I don't see him going there or the Bruins trading him in the division. Ottawa would have to overpay, and I'd be asking for Pinto as part of the deal to even consider trading in the division. I bet Linus wouldn't waive to go to Ottawa but he might for LA and Vegas.
Linus put up a monster year and if you are to sell high on him, I think the time is this summer. For a return I've been leaning a 2nd round pick, a high prospect (NHL ready) w/ low cap and a mid-tier prospect or later pick in a future year.
I wouldn't be interested in bringing in O'Reilly at this stage in his career. That would feel like a reboot of David Backes.

Could this work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Dekes</b></div><div>Yes but bruins have first shot at negotiating and it seems swayman loves it here so the odds he would be willing to take a discount like lots of bruins do is high, especially if he knows he will got a massive payout when we have the money again just like Pasta and Mcavoy received</div></div>
For entry level goalies with promise (1b to Ullmark in this case), in their mid 20's that are expected to be a number 1 goalie in the years ahead I think the number is higher.
I think the Swayman comp is closer to the Oettinger 4 million number. If you look at Carter Hart around 4, Spencer Knight at 4.5 M and Sorokin at 4 M you get a sense that the market price is higher than 3.25 m. I'd be happy with Sway at 3.25 for sure. I'm guessing 4.0 -4.5 m is more likely.
