Description
Assumes no Bergeron and Krejci. I factored in the idea that Bruins fans wanted Bertuzzi as part of the core moving forward. Marchand becomes expendable without Bergeron.

The idea is that the Devils wanted to capitalize on their core and would like the veteran leadership and production of Marchand and a number young #1 goalie in Swayman. I'm don't think I've got the value down yet so I'm just putting this out to see if someone can make the right adjustments. I could see the Bruins wanting to get tougher and a player like Bastian would fit that mold. The future picks help replenish draft capital and would be less valuable to a Jersey team that has a solid 1-2 center core and young players. In this scenario the Bruins keep Ullmark into the future and look to pair him with Bussi the next few years. Blackwood becomes a 1-year stop gap or they could look to off-load his RFA rights to another team.

Putting in a contract like Bertuzzi really does hamper the depth and the Bruins don't have the money or farm system to do much.

The Devils would have to move Vanecek (not a big deal) and the pick would need a condition to slide to 2025 if the Sharks condition is met. So long as you're okay with this the Devils happily accept.

Bad trades for Boston.

That Devils trade might get Marchand alone. If they were trading him. They are not.

Do the bruins really want to move Marchand though? Kinda changes the identity of the team.

Too many goalies wouldn’t be my worry. Could go with Vanacek/Swayman. Schmid doesn’t have to go through waivers.

If we're adding Marchand I'd rather keep the cap space. Schmid has earned the backup job.

Marchand showed he can still play and score at his age, why not try to offload Hall somewhere instead?

While I don't think the Bruins would get Mercer or Holtz, maybe ask for Seamus Casey too. It seems Devils fans like but Bs fan scoff at it. Would need adjusting. I wonder if a goalie packaged with a star (Marchand on the high end or Hall/ DeBrusk) will be considered. After this year, I'm having a difficult time feeling good about the Bruins lineup next year.
