Could Kevin Hayes work

Created by: History65
Team: 2023-24 Boston Bruins
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 2, 2023
Published: Jun. 3, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Picking up Kevin Hayes, re-signing Bertuzzi, and making the roster younger overall. Don't love the idea of Hayes' age, but he fits the window of contention for Boston.

Flyers fans can tell me if I'm under or over valuing Hayes here.

Leaves the team with over $18 million in cap space for 2024-25.

Not sure how fair the Flyers trade is, so constructive feedback is appreciated.

No Bergeron or Krejci, not holding my breath that they come back.

Boston is going to have to give up more than spare parts for Hayes at that cap hit for 3 years.

I’d imagine Hayes with retention going to cost more than spare parts. If they were getting rid of his entire cap hit this would still be light. With retention. Not going to do it.

Yeah that offer barely gets you Seeler let alone Hayes with 40% retention.

What do you think Boston would have to add?

No interest in Hayes. He'll regress and they already have Zacha and Coyle for the middle-six, maybe even Merkulov.

Honestly I have no idea what they can add. Ideally a 2023 or 2024 1st to get Seeler and Hayes but u don’t have either. I don’t see them having interest in a 1st 3 drafts away (2025). You barely even have 2nds or 3rds so probably prospects but u don’t wanna part with the prospects the Flyers will probably ask for because that’s really all you have to offer in a trade

I think Hayes is a great option for a team that needs an offensive 2a/2b center but if the plan is really to go from bergeron and krejci to zacha and hayes you're probably in trouble

Bruins fans just might face the fact that they don't have the cap for Bertuzzi. Is any team on Hall's trade list want to take on his 6m X 2 years?
Yeah I like Hayes to the Bruins if they want to compete next season, but that return to the Flyers isn't good enough. Maybe the best thing to do is suck it up for season and retool in 24/25.

Agree with the lads above... Hayes is a solid player, but does most likely not solve the B´s situation! A barrel of cred for a worked through suggestion though and the will to reason openly around it. Cheers!!!
