So misinformed. Marner has played 7 years and made the playoffs in each one of those. Marner put up 14 points in 11 playoffs games this season. Marner is not only 26 years old but has averaged over 100 points per 82 games the last 2 years. Marner was also voted first team all-star at RW the past 2 seasons. Beating out players like Rantanen, Pasternak and Kucherov. Marner is also 33rd all-time in career PPG. Did I mention he led the entire NHL in takeaways this year? Oh, I also forgot to mention he’s a finalist for the Selke trophy — meaning he’s currently considered a top 3 defensive forward in the entire NHL.

When is Moritz Seider going to even make the playoffs?

Seider and Larkin represent the foundation of a 6 year and counting rebuild process. How likely is it that the wings will replace seider with another #1 RHD? Almost impossible from their existing org depth chart, and future draft prospect(as they move to the mushy middle). Marner is a top tier player, but for Det would fill the 4th or 5th rebuild priority (1C,#1LHD, goalie, then scoring winger). That’s why this trade would never happen.

Great player, racks up stats in the regular season but he can’t handle the physicality and pressure of playoff games especially elimination ones. Mo plays a more valuable position and is a true #1 with all his cost controlled years ahead of him. No one is trading that for 2 years of marner loooool

Agreed completely, but you don't win in this league without at least one superstar defender. I'm MUCH more comfortable having offense by committee and an amazing defense, than the reverse. If Edvinsson turns into what we all think he can, that defense will be a thing of nightmares for other teams for the next decade+

Marner is a top tier player, nobody is saying he is not, but he is older, makes way more money and his contract is shorter where as Seider is controlled for many years. What fans forget to look at are the whole big picture not just points.

Lastly Toronto fans seem to go back to is that the Wings have not been in the pl layoffs for 7 years, but until the Leafs drafted guys like Marner, Nylander, Reilly and finally Matthews they were in the playoffs once in 11 years. So please do not use that tact, because they seem to forget that. Stevie is trying to rebuild the Wings, a team that berift of talent and need to be torn down and rebuilt. He has drafted well, made some good trsdesand is trying not only to get them back to the playoffs but make it so they are built for the long haul.

If Marner is garbage than the entire Red Wings team and organization is complete and utter trash. You need to stop. Nobody expects you to trade your precious Mo Seider for Marner but stop pretending Marner has no value and is trash.
