Capitals are asking teams to take Mantha with a sweetener. No need to give assets for him, especially when your team has essentially no future. Either take Mantha with the sweetener, or use assets elsewhere.

anaheim certainly passes -- we would consider a 2023 1st if we are trading Gibby with retention but not a next year 1st

If the caps are retaining on mantha, he’s not gonna be free.

I agree with you but it doesn't make sense in general to retain. The Capitals don't have a ton of cap space, paying $2.2M for a player you don't have doesn't make sense to me.

That’s also true. I also can’t see us sending him to the penguins of all places. He’ll totally burn us lol
