Pettersson returns 3rd overall Kent Johnson and jiricek at a minimum but nice try with that one. Change bahl to mercer and you might be close to Hughes and add another 2 1sts if you want Vancouver to retain that on miller.

That is delusional. Petey doesn’t return the 3OA, Jiricek, and Kent Johnson….you Van fans need to be realistic. Your team is heading for a rebuild. Petey has two more years of team control but this team is likely 3 years away from being a real contender. Miller’s contract will only get worse. They are going to have to eat money to move it.

That would be the biggest return in decades by far. Van fans are ridiculous.

1. A prospect as good as nemec was last traded....? So that already gives it a leg up

Adam fox, as for the echiel package Hughes is more valuable than Echiel especially with Echiels uncertainty with his neck at the time while also demanding out of buffalo, Vancouver has no reason to move Hughes it's going to cost NJ ALOT I am sure it won't be worth it for the devils how ever there is simply no reason for Vancouver to move him for anything less than a massive overpay

Adam Fox was NOT considered a top 5 prospect in hockey, and wasn't going to play for that team.

And again, its a level of prospect that doesn't get traded virtually EVER, in ADDITION to a package that's already better than the eichel package

Mark Stone
Erik Karlsson
Jack Eichel
Matt Tkachuk
Patrick Laine (arguably)

The first two were older, which is fair, but the latter 3 were all basically exactly what youre talking about with Quinn. Young, great, players.

None of those are good comparisons for Quinn Hughes. Stone, Tkachuk, and Laine are all wingers which are a less valuable position. None of those players listed except for Eichel had long term left on their contract, and EIchel had a career threatning neck injury to worry about. Tkachuk trade was massive, and look how bad it turned out for the team that traded him away. Karlsson was traded because his owner was too cheap, and even then Karlsson was a lot older than Hughes. Hughes likely hasn't even hit his prime years. He has a decade of good hockey left in him

He likely returns 2 of the 3. Not all 3 of course, but the Canucks have absolutely no reason to trade him unless a sever overpayment happens. Canucks are not heading for a rebuild because the owner would never allow such a thing. Miller is still a very good player. Every single team in the NHL has a contract that will end poorly. Canucks are not unique

Tkachuk was traded for a 100 point winger, #1 defenseman, and a 1st round pick, and the Flames still lost the trade. Canucks aren't going to want to suffer the same fate

Tkachuk was traded for two aging roster players that cost a combined 17 million dollars for the forseeable future.
Nowhere near the surplus value that approximately 20 years of combined ELC+RFA control on Jiricek, Johnson, and Carlsson will provide.

Again, all 3 of those players is insane, but there is no reason for the Canucks not to ask for at least 2 of them. Still, 100 point Huberdeau and #1 defenseman Weegar is not nothing either

No you don't understand. They're property of the Blue Jackets so they're magic bean assets that aren't worth much at all. Jackets would probably have to add multiple picks to those 3 just to get the Canucks interested.

Quinn Hughes and Pettersson clearly have NO comparable and deserve the biggest trade package by far in 3 decades, which is why the canucks made the playoffs. Demko is also a top 5 goalie worth the biggest package of any goalie in 20 years.

Petey only has two years left. Van has no cap space to improve a team that absolutely needs improvement. If Petey walks…Van is screwed. I am not advocating Quinn Hughes has to be traded as this is just a hypothetical scenario. However, Petey’s situation is real. And unless he signs an extension this off-season the Canucks will be forced to trade him in order to get back significant assets.

Pettersson is an RFA. He can’t just walk. He’ll more than likely sign a long term extension this summer

That’s not how it works. He can’t just “walk”. He is likely signed this offseason anyway

Next summer the cap is going up and teams are going to put in offer sheets on guys to get them. One year offer sheets to walk them to FA. Don’t believe me? Watch…

Right because the 1 successful Offersheet in like 20 years is really threatening….. unless somebody offersheets him for 18 mil a year, the Canucks will have no problem signing him. The cap rising + Myers and Beauvilliet expiring leaves the Canucks with plenty of cap space

Well you have made no logical points…. Canucks aren’t worried about Pettersson leaving unless he for some reason DEMANDS to be traded

You Canucks fans are hilarious. You can’t even see your team has no chance at the cup as currently constructed. Miller will start to be going downhill by the time the Canucks clear enough cap space and enough young talent to make them a contender. Sure the Canucks will have enough cap space to match but any offer sheet is to walk him to FA. If the Canucks do not sign Petey to an extension by the end of the summer then the end is near for Petey in Van.

Yall said the same thing last time Pettersson needed a new contract. Guess what? Pettersson was signed. Whats different this time?

First of all, Petey had no leverage that last time. This time he has arb rights. Essentially he can walk himself to FA.

Canucks are seemingly willing to give Pettersson whatever he wants so that won't be a problem. It is not something the Canucks even need to be worried about unless he is unsigned next September. He still has an entire year left on his contract
