Getting more Center Prospects

Created by: BenghisKHan
Team: 2023-24 Minnesota Wild
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 5, 2023
Published: Jun. 5, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The Wild have a fairly deep prospect pool especially on the blue line. Leverage our 1st and 2nd round picks to get the best center we can. Vancouver is the obvious target with their current prospect pool quantity has more valuable than a single 1st rounder. I think Addison has higher potential than this return but based on comments from Guerin and Evason its clear he is in their doghouse so instead of let him sit in the press box move him.

Trades
1.
MIN
  1. 2023 1st round pick (VAN)
Additional Details:
This would be a Draft day deal; Vancouver has a prospect depth problem having three picks in the first two rounds of this draft will be as or more valuable than one 1st round
VAN
  1. Steel, Sam [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 1st round pick (MIN)
  3. 2023 2nd round pick (MIN)
  4. 2023 2nd round pick (VGK)
Additional Details:
This would be a Draft day deal;
The Wild have a fairly deep prospect pool so trading quantity for quality makes sense; the target would be Dvorsky or Moore to add quality center depth
2.
MIN
  1. 2023 2nd round pick (DET)
  2. 2023 6th round pick (DET)
Additional Details:
Draft day:
Addison is a young D man with huge offensive upside that clearly doesn't get along w/ the Wild coaching staff; he is NHL ready w/ controllable contract
DET
  1. Addison, Calen [RFA Rights]
  2. 2023 5th round pick (MIN)
Additional Details:
Draft day:
If the Wild aren't going to play Addison move him for picks in this draft again looking at centers in this range Stramel and Molgaard are viable options

I'd be a little surprised if we couldn't get at least a late 1st for Addison. He's a good player despite being in Dean's dog house.

I don't love owning only two picks in the first five rounds either.

Not really a year when there is enough spread between picks 11 and 21 to trade 4 assets to move up 10 spots. You could get 3 really good prospects with those 3 picks. I'm not saying they'll all be NHL players but you want as many darts to throw at the board that is the draft as possible.
