You are never getting that return for Marner

Canes pass. Marner doesn't fix the goal scoring issues. This center market is way too weak to try and replace that really nice Kotkaniemi contract and to lose Pesce as well for another pass 1st guy makes no sense. Carolina will only have an interest if its for futures. Roster pieces for Marner (outside of maybe someone like Teravainen) is going to be a pretty easy pass

Hurricanes laugh at that proposal. KK is untouchable for anybody on Leafs except for Matthews and Pesce's production would be very hard to replace

I get them saying no to the trade, but why is Kotkaniemi untouchable for anyone aside from Matthews? He's a middle-6, 1/2 PPG winger, that doesn't see a ton of special teams time.

Not saying he's a bad player for Carolina, but why is he so untouchable in your eyes?

He's untouchable for a few reasons
1. He's a top 6 piece
2. He's the heir to Jordan's Staal's on-ice role when he retires
3. He's on a long-term contract that's very fair and reasonable (and will probably look pretty good in the next couple of years)
4. He's a very good defensive forward and is our second shutdown center
