Considering the Salary dump LAK just did...it's probably a lower 2nd rounder. Probably the NYR 2023 2nd. But the premise of taking on Murray for a better pick...CHI accepts.

We're still not taking Murray and a future first though - it's the Bruins pick this year, and you're likely getting the NYR 2nd in return.

Peterson would definetly cost more to dump. He's got an extra year left on his contract and Murray has a much easier buyout. That's what people keep forgetting: the leafs can just buy Murray out if no one wants to take him for a reasonable price. They aren't paying more to dump Murray then they did to dump Mrazek. So I think Bostons first and Murray for Ottawas second is the max Toronto would do and even that is iffy.

100% agreed that Peterson will (and did) cost more. It cost LAK a 2nd outright and a good prospect WHILE also retaining $2M of Provy's contract. Essentially just getting ~$1.85M in cap, but dumping ~$11M in cash. (Depending on each persons views in Walker that is). More cap space being dumped here with Murray and still ~$6M in cash. Zero prospects heading to CHI and not a 2nd outright, but dropping a round. That's why the NYR 2nd or even the CHI 3rd should be fair.
