The Sens don’t do that, COL doesn’t do an 8yr deal on a winger they need centers. Ranta is playing in Sweden next year. No matter how much I like Newhook, him Galchenyuk and Brassard as your 2,3 and 4 c is arguably the worst 2,3,4 C group in the league.

The Manson contract is kinda making things very bleak for a guy who has continuously regressed.

My interest in having the Devils trade for Girard is less than zero.
Girard wouldn't have a spot on the Devils lineup as Hughes, Hamilton, Siegenthaler, Marino, Bahl and Nemec are all likely better hockey players than him at this point in time.

Devils Don't need D tbh so they aren't going to move picks for one. They've already got a top line with an elite shutdown D in Siegenthaler and an elite offensive D in Hamilton. A second Line with the best defensive prospect since Makar in Hughes and a fantastic 2 way D in Marino. And a third line with a very solid shutdown defender in Bahl and arguably the second or third best Defensive prospect in Hockey in Nemec. Then there's Walsh, Casey, and Vilen who are all very solid prospects. There is zero space for a defender in NJ for the next 5 years or so unless its something wildly unrealistic like Makar at 50% or something else that would never happen. That being said, If you have a physical depth guy who can grind, forecheck and is still good for like 15-20 goals or a young starting goalie then that's the real need in NJ. Or a high value trade to swap Bratt out but that would be a touchy trade for both sides
