Vancouver doesn't even consider it. Not even if you change one of the 1sts to this year's 3rd OA... Unless Pettersson refuses to extend with Vancouver but in that case he wouldn't extend with Columbus either.

Easy no from Van. Talks start with 3rd overall, jiricek and Kent Johnson.

You're joking right?

top 5 defensive center this year.
100 point player
STILL AN RFA
Entering prime.

If Columbus was serious, this trade looks like this:
2023 3rd overall pick
1 of either Johnson or Jiricek
2024 1st rounder (top "x" protected)
1 of either Peeke or Texier (which ever position isn't picked above)
2025 conditional 1st rounder (conditioned to if he resigns)

I agree I may have undersold this on CBJ's end but there's no way they send essentials 4 FRPs (counting Kent and Jiricek given how young they are and where they were taken) for a guy with one year left on his contract. If an extension is worked out before hand different story.

Given if the Canucks are trading Petey, it's likely because we are not in a place to compete. And he's and RFA, so technically CBJ is safe. He's a top 10 center in the NHL, and those are not cheap at all.
And it would essentially be 3 firsts, not 4. It's one of those 2 not both. The 3rd overall this season holds drastic enough value that it isn't BOTH just one.

Canucks aren't moving a core player... may as well ask Edmonton for McDavid, Jersey for Hughes, Vegas for Bettman, etc.
