I know Marner's the whipping boy in Toronto (when it's not Holl), but he's gotta be pretty close to Matthews' value. Dude's top 10 in points and assists most years and just got nominated for the Selke, as well as signed for two more years of control.

It's the positional fit that matters for the Jackets. They've already got Gaudreau and Laine for top wingers. Spending another $11M on the wings is setting themselves up to be stuck with a very sub par center group going forward.

I get the sentiment but there is no center in the league right now expected to be moved that would be any noticeable upgrade over Jenner/ Roslovic.

Also the Babcock point is mute. I'm sure Laine and Gaudreau are also pissed but they get paid millions to do their job not complain about the coach.
